What do you think on the monster trucks evolution? also what do you think on the layouts and jumps on the stadiums? (Here is a video that shows the evolution)

My opinion: Monster trucks evolution its been good because security and the upgrades that they got but the layouts on the stadiums are the same this year, i would love to see that monster jam bring back layouts like in 2008-2010 where the layouts were very creative and in every event the jumps were completely different to the previous event.

What do you think?

Don't tell that to people on Facebook groups, to them all trucks should be leaf spring car crushes or PENDA Racing... If you want a read that will make you lose faith in humanity do that.

But honestly the main thing is how safe these trucks are nowadays, even back in 2009 the trucks couldn't take the jumps they can today and the tech inside them is mindblowing

True that. Back in the 80's they would break over 1 car.

Now the shock systems and suspensions are so durable they can take a 50 ft. land impact.

Monster Jam? Bahaha. I find it a joke nowadays. Ever since 2014 it's been about backflips, fan judges, bias World Finals judging, what not.

Monster Jam has become a joke now. I liked it when it was legit. Yeah, Grave Digger double downed at WF17, but that was only because he entered FOUR TRUCKS. Even Max-D has like 2 or 3.

You guys do realize that the fans are the one who wanted fan judges because they kept saying it was rigged. And by monster jam being a joke to y'all, just remeber it could be a monster jam show or a bill Payne show. Now they may have had their ups and downs and have made some stupid decisions but there still in my opinion better then most Indy shows. Not saying that Indy shows are bad but I have never really been excited about them. But it's your opinion not mine so I'm not going to try to change your mind.

Bill Payne actually puts on a real great show. He always goes out and gives the fans what they paid for, even at the expense of the truck.
dont down play him just bc he's an indy.

Also, Monster Jam is really more about entertainment now. I agree, some of the pre 2010 stuff was a lot cooler to watch (cars, more layout, no over hyped backflips), but you cant deny the fact their shows are so far advanced and entertaining than a lot of others, not to mention professional. I wouldn't call it a joke, bc those are still trucks, normal drivers, and they both take abuse

Even if the fans wanted fan judges, they still suck at judging and the thing is even more rigged now because of it. Not saying they shouldn't listen to their fans, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. One of the things I hate anymore is that there are maybe 2 of 3 crush cars on any of the courses now. They did away with crush cars for no real reason. Were they not able to afford them from the junkyard anymore? Were they a problem for the trucks? I dunno. Also, as @TruckMonster said, they even plan out who does backflips and who doesn't, so that's red flags all over. Who knows what else they plan? Maybe their entire freestyles are rehearsed and the trucks aren't meant to break, and it's just misfortune. Maybe not that last part, but you get the idea.

This sums up Monster Jam's current standings the best I've ever seen. I'm glad I'm not planning to go to a World Finals anymore, or any event, for that matter. Back in 2012, or 2013, the events were still decent and were worth the price to pay. Now it's all about the commercialism and profit. Rip Monster Jam 1990 something - 2014.

In 2012 after the 30th Anniversary encore for Grave Digger, and I quote, Dennis Anderson says "You've helped build the brand Grave Digger for 30 years."

Sellout much?

Personally, I have enjoyed Monster Jam more the past two years than I ever have before. There doesn't seem to be much of an indie scene up here so I won't really talk about that, but Soaring Eagle is consistently one of the best monster truck shows of the year. As for Monster Jam, I'd pretty much given up going to Providence because the shows just weren't particularly entertaining. The monster truck portions of the shows were okay at best and the rest (I'm looking at you, Quad Wars.) was predictable to say the least. The #MoreMonsterJam/Amsoil Series is one of the best things Monster Jam has done in recent memory. There's a level of energy at those events that I've never before seen in an arena show. The Fox Sports 1 Series has produced great shows since it started, even if the championship was a complete blowout this year. I've been to three stadium shows (Foxboro 2014, 2015, and 2016) and each one has been better than the last. I don't care if all the tracks look the same because the current layout works really well. I'm not saddened by the decrease in the amount of cars on tracks. I don't feel like I'm missing anything when they're not there, and they're pretty much worthless when they're embedded in a dirt obstacle anyway.

As for some of the points others have made:

"they even plan out who does backflips and who doesn't"

As Dustin Hart said when this was first mentioned, this is a safety thing. It's not so much that they decide who will be doing backflips, it's just them saying who can.

"Now it's all about the commercialism and profit."

Yeah, that's kind of how businesses work.

I wish the shows were less rushed and that the World Finals wasn't so dragged out. Backflips are so meh to me now and I don't think I've ever enjoyed them being brought into competition. I always felt they were too much of a fixed move and too predictable. I liked it better when tracks were more unique and unpredictable in their design, but that doesn't mean each track has to be vastly different from the others. That doesn't even mean they need to use cars again. Just make things a bit more unique. Using the So-Cal racing exclusively is fine with me. If there's any tracks that I have real criticism for, it's the World Finals tracks. Ever since moving it to two different days, it really has turned into two giant blobs of dirt with no real breathing room, in my opinion.

As far as the evolution of monster trucks goes, I think 2000-2001 was a really important time with freestyle becoming a sanctioned part of the competition, so the trucks began evolving more in strength and safety, as well as an evolution of the courses and what was considered spectacular.

I also think it's pretty interesting to watch the definition of "monster truck" change over the years. In the 80's and 90's, "monster" leaned more on the "giant", or "leviathan" side of things, whereas today, the "monster" in the name is more applicable to the "strange", "exotic" or "novel". They're not even really true trucks anymore (those street-legal things), they're Monster Jam trucks, which is what Monster Jam has started calling them. Sure, some of that is due to name branding and whatever, but it's also because they've realized how much they've evolved, and that the same name almost isn't appropriate. It's a completely different animal nowadays. Just my two cents.
