As for dodge the only reason people buy them vs Ford or GM/Chevy is for the Cummins. I really like the GM body style (more so then the chevy), the Duramaxs are pretty stout but as much as they claim the Allison tranmissions are built strong, toss a intake, exhaust and tuner on the truck and the Allison struggles to even remotely keep up.
If I were to walk into a dealership to buy a fullsize truck it would be a Dodge 2500 with a cummins a 6 speed manual, then a GMC Duramax, then walking, then a Vespa Scooter then maybe a Ford Powerstroke.
If not a diesel I would buy a Power Wagon in a heartbeat, if you stick to older trucks, the 1994.5-1997 Fords with the 7.3l powerstrokes were tough, even tougher were the early 90s dodge pickups.
