CMDeerfoot Posted February 13, 2021 Author Share Posted February 13, 2021 The first event in the International Incident mini series had all the makings of being a barn burner, and safe to say it didn't disappoint. The fans in Guadalajara were treated to the very best in monster truck competition throughout the night, with some of the new blood announcing their presence to the entire SM community, veterans showing they still have some left in the tank, a new dominant force showing it wasn't a fluke, and someone getting the breakthrough win they've been scratching and clawing for over many years. Qualifying showed that the 3 people who everyone thought would be a threat were exactly that, as newly crowned NAMT Triple Crown and RoRMJL S4 Stadium Tour Blue Series Champ Brandon Adam, all times wins leader Mark Colineri, and RoRMJL S4 Stadium Tour Red Series and WF4 Racing Champ Blake Thompson took the top 3 spots with newcomer Logan Jones (in his first SM event ever) rounding out the top 4. This continued as we went into the wheelie contest, as those 3 took the top 3 spots (with Blake picking up the win) and gave everyone a small preview of what was to come later on in freestyle. It was all chalk in racing as the top 4 made it through round 1, and round 2 saw the 2 dominant forces in MJL move onto the final as Adam beat Jones and Thompson beat Colineri after a rare mistake by the guy many consider to be the g.o.a.t. In the finals at first it seemed like Thompson had bested Adam, but upon review he crossed over the middle line and was accessed a 5 second penalty which handed the win over Adam. Then came freestyle and it's safe to say the crowd went home happy, everyone gave it their best but some got tripped up by the wild obstacles. The 3 guys who had been dominating the night all laid down incredible runs, but it just wasn't enough to topple the man who went out first. The hometown boy Edy Beltran opened up the freestyle session with what turned out to be the best run of his career, it checked all of the boxes for the judges and carried him to his first ever SM sanctioned win by half a point; and it doesn't get much better than having your first win be in KOTH. Then came the most important part of the night, tallying up the points to see who would get the 2 invites to the finale. After all the counting was completed it was close as you could possibly get, as Brandon Adam takes home KOTH by 1 point over Blake Thompson. Those 2 will move on to the finale and now await the results of the other 3 shows to see who they will battle for the King Of The Incident crown. Everyone at KOTH and NAMT would like to thank those who came out to compete, it was a fun and relaxing night that provided a lot of entertainment for all involved.
