"But the hunt for this power comes with great risk, as evidenced by the many who have fallen by the wayside. The sacrifice needed will be too much for some, but for others it will be worth all the pain and heartache."

Event 1 of this mini series showed that for the time being the status quo is still very much intact, as 2 of the most dominant drivers on SM today claimed the first 2 spots in the Incident Finale; that being Brandon Adam in No Limit and Blake Thompson in Outrage. It's now time to see who will join them, and to figure that out we're heading to the picturesque mountainous region of northern Japan known as Hokkaido. It's capital city of Sapporo is no stranger to hosting high level competitions, as it was the host of the 1972 Winter Olympics. But it's never seen anything like what KOTH is gonna bring, as 8 more NAMT superstars are ready to bring the heat in the newly constructed Mt. Moiwa Coliseum. Who will rise up and join Brandon and Blake in the quest for the crown, and who will be left out in the cold? There's only one way to find out!

Signups will open Wednesday, February 17th, 2021 at 8pm eastern.
Event will take place Friday, February 19th, 2021; driver's meeting will begin at 8:00pm eastern with action kicking off around 8:30.

As stated in the announcement thread sign ups are on a first come, first served basis and trucks will be randomly assigned to each competitor at the end of the driver's meeting. Driver's are expected to be in voice chat at 8:00pm sharp, if not you will be replaced by a fill in driver unless you contact an official to let them know you'll be late.

Competitors are prohibited from making changes to the trucks in any way, be it visual or performance based. Modifications will only happen if and when an official deems a truck has a glaring issue that needs to be addressed. If a situation like this arises, whomever gets the affected truck will receive a new truck file from officials to install.

If you are caught making (or found to have made) unauthorized changes to your truck, you will be kicked from the event and suspended indefinitely from KOTH competition.

Other event specific rules and info will be covered during the driver's meeting.

Safe to say this event was thrilling from beginning to end for the folks in Sapporo, with an outcome that most didn't expect with how the night started.

Qualifying started the night off with a bang as Amos, Tyrrell, and Michalesko took the top 3 spots respectively, but surprisingly Danny Mackey (number 2 all time in wins on SM) clocked in 6th and seemed off the pace. However, some will claim it was just a tactic to throw everybody else off their game with what happened later on, but we'll get to that momentarily...

After qualifying wrapped up, we jumped right into the wheelie contest and the cream of the crop rose to the top with Michalesko taking the victory with 2 glorious hits that had the crowd on their feet. Mackey, Amos, and Tyrrell also threw down but they just couldn't quite best what Michalesko did, but the crowd showed them their appreciation nonetheless.

Then came racing, and this is where some accusations of sand bagging were thrown around. This was due to the fact that Danny Mackey proceeded to come out and run 3 tenths faster than the TQ time Amos ran and thoroughly beat the 3rd fastest qualifier Trevor Michalesko who in fairness had problems during the race. He then took out 2nd fastest qualifier Matthew Tyrrell running another pass that was faster that TQ time, and then beat TQ Trevor Amos in the finals again running quicker than TQ time. Needless to say things got a bit heated in the pits for a bit, but cooler heads prevailed and we moved on to freestyle which did not turn out how anyone expected.

Going into freestyle Amos and Mackey were sitting in the driver's seat as far as the transfer positions were concerned, but that would change drastically before freestyle ended. The first 4 trucks out all did the best they could on one of the toughest freestyle courses ever built, but the standout run through that point was from Jackson Meszaros. No one knew what to expect from him, but he wowed the crowd from start to finish and earned the lead at that point with a 24. The second half of freestyle is what would determine who moved on to the finale and who missed the cut, as no one was locked in yet. Matthew Tyrrell was the 5th man out and he had a puncher's chance to make his way into the finale, and he knew he had to best Meszaros run to keep his hopes alive; if not, he would have to hope that the other 3 messed up. He went big early and often but it came back to bite him on a risky transfer attempt, the end result being a gnarly wreck that made the crowd collectively gasp; he was alright, but hope would be all he could rely on as he fell short of the lead by 4 points. Next up was Trevor Amos and he knew exactly what he needed to do to make it through, just better Meszaros score and wait to see what happened with the other 2; he controlled his own destiny and control it he did. Throwing down arguably the best freestyle run so far in this mini series, he gave everyone a performance they won't soon forget and took over the lead by 2 points.

Next up was racing winner Danny Mackey and he too controlled his destiny, at minimum he had to best Meszaros and force Michalesko to beat him. He wanted the double down and crown as overall event winner and hit the track with reckless abandon. But once again this wild course reached up and bit another driver as he suffered a violent wreck hitting off of the side of the fountain pond. The entire left front was destroyed on impact, and said impact sent him on over into a violent barrel roll flip. The crowd waited with baited breath until he emerged from the truck, a little dizzy but otherwise unscathed. But his chances of making the finale were for all intents and purposes gone with the wind as he posted the lowest score of the night with a 17. It all came down to Trevor Michalesko and he had the longest odds of the final 4 to make it in, which is crazy to think after he qualified 3rd and won wheelies. What hurt him was the 1st round exit in racing, something that based off of qualifying was not expected to say the least. Coming into freestyle he knew he would need some help to stand a chance, and as fate would have it he got the help he needed with the misfortune of Tyrrell and Mackey. The mission now was simple, do better than them and he would be in. He learned from their mistakes and kept it under control, but still put on a heck of a show filling the clock in the process. After the run was done the scores came in and he had pulled off the improbable comeback, a 24.5 to finish in 2nd place and claim the 2nd and final transfer spot. This also meant that Trevor Amos took home the freestyle win and the overall event championship, capping off a stellar night for one of the current stand out performers.

The joy of victory and the agony of defeat, all on full display in front of an amazing crowd in beatiful northern Japan. This event had everything you could ever want, and it's safe to say the folks here in Sapporo will remember this night for years to come. We wanna thank everyone who came out to compete tonight, the reception and support we've had for this mini series has been awesome to see. Full results will be posted below, and we hope to see you next week as we head to the home of the crumpet, Cricket, and the Crown Jewels. Until then, stay safe and keep the shiny side up!
