dirtracer9
outlawed id have to agree partially. imo the 5.7 hemi is the winner dodge knows how to make some beefy engines that can be ran HARD..
Outlawed
I meant for general day to day use, has decent amount of power/torque and the fuel mileage is far more accurate then ford ecoboost or dodges hemi with cylinder deactavation. its just a solid engine, not the best in all categories but on the average, pretty high up. JJfan48
The fuel saver only helps Dodge out with it. mdemko
dodge knows how to make some beefy engines that can be ran HARD.. So thats why that had to offer a lifetime power-train warrenty???
JJfan48
Ya know whats funny, the first year they ran that type of V8 style and tuning (2009) the year my parents have, it lasts forever we drive it a lot and already have 65,000+ miles on it. They offer us every year a huge discount on the new RAM because of the lifetime warranty I dont think they knew they created a masterpiece Waiting for them to send a offer for the new Eco-Diesel V6 lol
mdemko
Dadge offered the lifetime power-train warrenty because the build crappy cars and trucks, not because the are awesome. That is the olny reason behind offering a warrenty like that.
JJfan48
We trust Dodge in my family The only issue we have ever had (not to start a war) is just electrical issues with the Caravan automatic sliding doors. There was some small issues with the 09' RAM but its a first year for the new body style. All issues resolved and its been put through two wrecks, one totaled the front end of the truck. The engine works just great on only issues we have ever had on our Dodges are either body style from crappy repair centers or electrical issues that they always have Dodge makes quality engines The car company (again not to start a war) that my family has had is always ford Power-train wise from their 99' Powerstroke and their Triton V10 & V8, either the engine goes away over time or a never ending problem I have friends who have replaced their engine on their F-150 and transmission. Most Dodge guys I know are very proud of their car. Like my family 09' Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie 04' Dodge RAM 2500 SLT Heavy Duty Very proud of our vehicles and we have had dodges in the past, many actually 1980's Ram Charger 1980's Ram Van 2003 , 2005, 2007 Dodge Caravan 2004 Dodge RAM 3500 Laramie Heavy Duty None have had Power-train issues. Sorry if you have just had bad luck with the brand. I think they are very good cars
mdemko
Don't get me wrong, dodge makes a decent truck. And thats their HD pick ups. Can't tell you how many trannys I've gone through in my 06 3500.
Stephen_Black
Gonna go out on a limb and say that Chevy takes the sports car portion of the competition. I don't think any of these guys has anything on the Corvette ZR1.
Outlawed
the new SRT Viper says high and would like to say it can do everything the ZR-1 can do without forced induction or semi slick tires As for dodge the only reason people buy them vs Ford or GM/Chevy is for the Cummins. I really like the GM body style (more so then the chevy), the Duramaxs are pretty stout but as much as they claim the Allison tranmissions are built strong, toss a intake, exhaust and tuner on the truck and the Allison struggles to even remotely keep up. If I were to walk into a dealership to buy a fullsize truck it would be a Dodge 2500 with a cummins a 6 speed manual, then a GMC Duramax, then walking, then a Vespa Scooter then maybe a Ford Powerstroke. If not a diesel I would buy a Power Wagon in a heartbeat, if you stick to older trucks, the 1994.5-1997 Fords with the 7.3l powerstrokes were tough, even tougher were the early 90s dodge pickups. mdemko
It's not that I have had a dad experience with the brand, I just find Chrysler products to be cheaply made. Hence the life time power train warranty. I had a 90-something ram 1500. Engine and tranny problems. Also have an 06 3500. Tranny problems. Dodge never put a good transmission behind any of their products.
JJfan48
That I will agree, the timing on my dads 04' 2500 is really slow Until 4 gear is wear you find the real power of the truck. We just put a differential on it and it help a little. With it had an Allison though lol
Outlawed
every brand has pros and cons, I would rather go with a stout engine and do mods to the driveline vs having to deal with a crappy engine design with stout drivetrain.
