How do I make a multiplayer game in MTM2?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to play with a friend on MTM2 with him only. But, I'm not sure how to do a server or something like that so that it allows us to play together online.

Does somebody knows how to make a multiplayer game in MTM2? Thanks.

Though, I'm looking for, y'know, a private game with him and I only. Do you know if it's possible to make some kind of private server for MTM2?

Not as bad as mansoncollectors.com (a site for discussing Marilyn Manson memorabilia) getting bought out by "escorts." If you know what I mean.

Definitely needs the same track .pods, if he doesn't have the same truck .pods then it will just show up as Bearfoot for the other person. I don't have MTM2 installed, but the multiplayer button should be rather obvious if I remember correctly..

Here is some information.

After that, to join use TCP/IP and put the IP of the respective computer or if u want to skip this thing use voobly

What's Voobly? I've never heard of that...

By the way, is it normal that the latency is set to ''Local''? I want to play over the internet. I did all the port fowarding things, but with the latency telling me it's local, I'm not sure if I made a local multiplayer or a online multiplayer game. I'm looking for an online multiplayer, just saying.

I also get an error saying that ''this port should be on Lan Subnet'' when trying to save my settings on port fowarding... this is strange...

Here is the MTM2 page in Voobly

http://www.voobly.com/games/view/Monster-Truck-Madness-2

Both Voobly and by IP address, you have to Port Forwading(here is another to check your router here https://portforward.com/ports.htm, choose the directx 7, are the same ports)

To host a game:

1. Click Multiplayer, then click Connect.

2. After that, choose Host.

3. Name your game, choose TCP/IP Connection(in the image is in spanish) and click ok.

4. Give the IP(you check it here http://www.whatsmyip.org/ it says "your ip address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xx") to your friends, wait your friends to join and you can start playing

To join to a game:

1. Click Multiplayer, then click Connect(same as host)

http://imgur.com/EdK7Q79

2. After that choose Join(here it changes).

http://imgur.com/FejfH90

3. Click in TCP/IP Connection.

4. Then, type the host's IP(it's in spanish again) and click in Accept

5. Wait until the game appears, sometimes it is blinking, click on the game, then click OK

6. Now you can start playing.

A few tips.

1, have the patch(http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/mtm2.html) and the other players joining or hosting the game to have the patch, if someone doesn't have it, the game will not appears.

2. have a pod program like Cowpod(http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/cowpod/index.shtml) or another one.

3. have the fixmore4.pod in the pod list.(http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/utilities.shtml)

Happy gaming!!!!!!

Extremo.

(Thanks SLO_COPE to helping me doing the joining part)

It says local because there is no latency, because you are the host. And you shouldn't have to port forward, enabling DMZ host should be enough.

So by default, if I make a TCP/IP-based game, anyone on the internet will be able to join me as long as I give them my IP? (If I added MTM2 in my firewall exception list, of course)
