  1. Not really, no. The show that comes here has been essentially the same layout since 1990. I still enjoy every single year I go. Track design has very little to do to decide how good a show is. It's what the drivers can do with it that matters.

Not saying that the drivers won't make the best of it and put on a show, I would just personally like to see them attack a different style of track for freestyle or even racing then what we see right now. The drivers they have out there are the best of the best, and the track builders and dirt crew deserve major props for putting in the time and effort and non-stop hours of work into making this track like the blueprints that they were handed. I just wish that these blueprints had a little variety in them every year for Vegas. Who knows, I may or may not enjoy the show. Last few years at Vegas, from what I've seen, have been kinda "meh", but I'm hoping this year is a change. So far, I'm not seeing a difference in terms of freestyle: one-hit wonders from few (because of obstacle size and angle), complete destruction of trucks by many if not all, and a show that some fans might just walk out of there completely amazed at.

  2. Okay, seriously? Do you ever have anything good to say about Monster Jam? We get it. You work for an indie team. Feld is the big bad corporation. We know that. I don't know what picture you're looking at, but the only thing that looks the same to me are the two containers on the scoreboard side. Other than that its almost a completely different track.

I have tons of good to say about Monster Jam. They know their stuff when it comes to marketing and putting on a good show. I'm just saying that if there was some variety to the course, it'd be slightly enjoyable.

  3. Feld's dirt crew guys had to start moving in dirt last Wednesday, so this isn't just your average track (even though it kind of is in some senses)! These guys are far from your small promotions, where they just carve away at piles of dirt until the ramp looks good enough. They measure the length, angles, width, height, and more for each one of those ramps. They may have advertised two totally different tracks for racing and freestyle, they have to get a base started for practice, qualifying, and racing day so come freestyle day, they can add on top of where they started. But ultimately, they need to get all the permanent obstacles built come practice day, then freestyle day is when they can adjust ramp angles, ramp heights, and add cars, vans, RVs, and other crap out there at their and the drivers' discretion.

  5. from what i've heard, apparently the Dneps were too grippy and were tearing up stadium floors. so yeah that's kind of the point

That was one cause, but another cause was minor drivetrain issues where driveshafts, input shafts, and miscellaneous other things that were caused by the tires gripping too much on some landings or take-offs. A lot of people just choose not to "upgrade" to them because they're weak (bang on a sidewall of a Goodyear or Firestone, than bang on a sidewall of an EcoWork).
