  1. All on January 5, I had to wake up early for school and it being the first day after break I was so tired. When I get home I was still in the same mood, cold and tired. Around 6pm I went in bed and laid down. I guess I fell a sleep for 2 hours and then woke up thinking it was mourning XD! I starting yelling at my Mom saying I was late for school and its was 8PM not AM. I am still a bit scared inside. If I am making spelling mistakes I am still extremely tired XD!!!!

  2. The default node beam and truck file we have been using since this site has originated is based on the work of Box5. His base structure works and as I have stated, it could be cleaned up and made even better. Either way at minimum you would be looking at unique node/beam layouts as per real life counter parts, accurate suspension geometry, swaybars that work correctly and alot of minor tweaks/changes that newer builds brought (engine settings, meshwheels, etc). Difference of opinion but the trucks in their current state are geared for Sam Boyd Stadium (70mph +) and are unrealisitic when you can watch people clear 2/3rds of a stadium floor. The TL:DR of why the mod here did not advance as quickly as it should have was right from the get go, the online racing dictated that the truck stay spec handling to be provide the best racing possible. It was not until a recent league on here allowed truck file changes and personalized tuning that people even started to tinker. But how to do you convince someone to make a truck realistic as possible when means you are going to be slower then the kid running a stock truck? Like I stated earlier, I started on a base truck file with the intent to move to a newer ROR build or atleast spark interest in it. Just has not gone according to plan nor at the speed I would have liked.

As for a separate download section for different versions, that is not a worry.

Yes the only change I could find to be unlikable is the down arrow automatic reverse. And the craziest thing just happened today. I was so tired I took a little nap around 6pm and then woke up now. I thought it was Wednesday mourning! I was so scared I was missing school. Wow I still can't get this through my head. I still have to finish homework. I am just wowed right now.

  3. There has been talks of moving to .38 for about two or three years when the site actually had more people but that move never happened because of certain things and eventually people started to drift from the game. As the people above have stated it takes a lot of man power in which this site doesn't have a lot of to revamp 300+ trucks and tracks. Yes an upgrade has been needed for quite awhile but with how things have drastically slowed down and so much needing to happen for a move to be even possible I just don't see their being an upgrade unless there is a much more stable game that is released. These guys have done incredibly things with the hand they have been dealt and I would love to see an upgrade soon to bring more life back into this site.

First of all. Trucks have been verified to work and it takes a committed 10 minutes to convert a track to the new terrain system. And who says we need to convert every track? I bet some tracks on here are junk and very outdated. In addition to this, and if you haven't realized already 4.5.1 is fully stable.

  4. ya every version has its problems, .37 has lag problems, .38 not all trucks work as good as .37,idk what is wrong with .39 but im guessing its the same as .38, it would be nice to move to .4.2 but it would be a lot more work than lower versions, i would like to see 4.2 become the main version than .37 but its a lot more work for people to do that they dont want to do.

    4.5.1 not 4.2

  5. Perhaps you're right. The difficult part is that it's quite hard to want to commit to helping someone learn how to do something, when they've shown very little willingness to learn in the first place. Nearly every post from these two have concerned them demanding tracks be made/converted for a different version of RoR since their arrival. Little interest has been made on either's part to learn the process, or even get acclimated to the site/community before making such demands or "requests".
There's been at least two users discuss with them the process of making/converting tracks, even noting how difficult it is to do so. One has even provided a link to a read-me discussing the process. So, they have been told on where to obtain information, and have gotten some manner of assistance on the subject.

Unless I'm mistaken, at this time, the majority of creators on this site have yet to divert attention to making tr?cks in 0.4.5., yet these two continue to spam these forums with requests for tracks to be made/converted in a version of RoR that I've already stated is "
obviously not supported by any of the content creators of this site." Since these two are the only ones being so vocal on trying to get conversions of tracks in to the version they are using, they should be more than capable of figuring it out. No one here is going to meet their demands. No one here going to do it for them, and quite a few here may actually know the process of doing the conversion to begin with.

When I started in MTM2, I read the read-me's, and taught myself how to make tracks. Only then did I start to get approached by users who offered some guidance and instruction to further my track making ability. In RoR I sought help, and while a few did their best to give me assistance, I once again had to figure it out on my own. I showed a willingness to learn, and to become a constructive member of the community.

Stomping in, demanding tracks be made for the version of the game you're using, and spamming the forums on the topic is unfortunately not the best way to make friends or have people assist you. Especially when it's a topic they've already showed some level of ignorance in.

I have already asked if there was a way and I read that link a long time ago. I have no idea whats its talking about. I have no experience with making trucks or tracks. I have also not demanded I first made a post suggesting we move to a newer and much better version of ROR. I was turned down so I made this request asking if someone was willing to convert track files for me. Even though few users agreed with me. Trucks work in 4.5., When I just downloaded ROR a few weeks ago how am I suppose to figure this out by myself. I asked for a tutorial (not on this post) but all I get is the "help" of a link showing coding and advanced files. If I just joined a few weeks ago how am I suppose to even know where to start. Just to be clear, I'm not familiar with 2 posts being spamming.

This explains everything, although if you are not familiar with the old format it might take some time to understand it all.

The tracks we use are basically models of arenas/pieces of land floating on top of nothing, which makes the conversion really simple as opposed to a traditional terrain with a heightmaps and whatnot, so some steps in the link can probably be skipped.

I will have to read it.

  8. Well, with that logic we'd still be using Windows 2000 and playing MTM2 (which in hindsight was massively frustrating and more difficult to edit than RoR). Humans are creatures of habit and most of the time we need to be pushed for progress to happen. FWIW, it's very easy to convert older tracks to the new terrn2 format. I haven't yet looked into adding mud, but a standard track probably takes 5-10 minutes to convert; and after creating one template I'm sure it takes even less time. Trucks also work perfectly fine with absolutely no modifications. It would be awesome if people uploading tracks would include both terrain systems in the ZIPs so people at least have a choice (and I've estimated the extra files are less than 10 KB). This would be a real step forward and would at least encourage people to try the newest version.

I recently had to reinstall RoR -- previously I was using .38 and I decided to upgrade to .39.5. I wasn't expecting much but this version is far superior to .38, let alone the dinosaur that is .37! And .4.5 is even better, I'll completely move to it very soon.

As for .37, why on Earth is anyone still using it? I realize most trucks on this site were built for .37, but it requires very minor truck file modifications (removing semicolons) to make them compatible with .38 and up, and some even work as is. Newer RoR versions are often not the fault of common errors, but rather trucks not being standalone (requiring the messy V4 pack), and incomplete material files are to blame. And does anyone even use the trucks in the V4 packs for anything other than pulling parts? Most props (and many trucks) are now obsolete. Creating a larger scrapyard and a section for pre-.38 trucks seems more logical than relying on the V4 pack.

Is there a tutorial to show how to convert the track files? I would gladly like to try it. If I'm the noob I am and convert files I have never heard of before I think professionals could do it very fast. I really think taking the step forward to 4.5 would be the best thing for the community.

  9. I suppose you missed the part in the site rules about single member accounts huh?

Since you clearly know what you are talking about please enlighten us on these "pros" (and no the trucks do not work fine, they import most of the meshes and textures but the actual structure in the truck file is not since they added alot of new things).

More Realistic Breakables, Adjustable Sky Settings, ingame Visual Debugs for easier modding.

  10. Some of what I've read here I agree with.

However to just nonchalantly come in and say we should switch now is a bit silly dont you think? You've likely never made a Truck or Track yet you're telling everybody to switch.

You said all it takes is one track and one truck, I challenge you to be the change you wish to see. Be the person who makes the one truck and one track to get everything started.

I have no knowledge of how to make tracks or trucks. I just know that trucks are compatible.

  11. I actually converted one of my custom world finals to .4 and it wasn't just a piece of cake. You have to make many new files and write the text yourself. Its not "hard" but not easy. This was about 6-8 months ago so it might have changed, i haven't touched ror since.

Thank you. You are the only one who has not directed something bad at me.

  12. Trucks work fine I tested them. And who said we have to remake hundreds of tracks? The is lots of pros to move to a newer version with many new features. Especially having a game that is not over 5 years old. The 4.5 version supports 1080p.

  13. Why are you so interested in forcing people into a major upgrade if you just joined the site yesterday and barely know how things work?

I've been on the site for a long time. My old user name is MonsterJamtv.

  14. You're entitled to think what you like, despite your misguided claim.

    Lead the way, then.

    I nominate you.

Sorry, but that sounds like a problem unique only to you.

In the post a year ago there were tons of users wanting to switch to a newer version.

  15. "Too scared to do it" huh? No offence but you are showing your clear lack of knowledge towards the subject. (Even further solidified by making two posts that boil down to you wanting a track in 0.4.5).
Actions speak louder then words and unfortunately you are going to have to show some actual substance rather then enthusiasm.

This is not about wanting a track for 0.4.5 This is about the community switching to it. My other post is about that.
