Truck Making Questions

Okay, I am just trying to paint a new truck I guess. I am using the El Matador Body and other things from the truck that I need like the mesh and material files. I change all the elmatador.png things to the name I want them and then go to the .mesh file and change them their. Do I need to download meshalizer and make a new mesh or am I just doing something wrong. Also, with the material files, do I need to do the same thing? Is their a program to make a .material file or am I doing something wrong?

There is a simpler tutorial, typed by Connor Richardson in the tutorial section. It works great for me, I'd recommend using it if you don't want winrar.
