  1. Hello there everyone, We've been out for 3 weeks, but now it's time to get back into the swing of things! I hope there's still interest in this league after such a long hiatus, so come out and show your support! Here are the details on the event: - Will take place Thursday, June 27th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST) - This week we head to Antwerp, Belgium for a visit at New Liberty Stadium (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/627-new-liberty-stadium-3/) - Qualifying begins Sunday, June 23rd at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, June 26h at 10:00pm EST. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.

    Taking a Week Off

-sigh- My brother was going to come over today but some stuff came up and now he's not able to make it over here. I'm going to try to find another way to get at what I need on the web server and let you all know how I make out. EDIT: I have ssh access to the site temporarily, so we will be able to get an event done this week. Thread will be up shortly!

    Taking a Week Off

Oh hush you. My brother threw together a server box with the spare parts he had lying around and will be delivering it to me this weekend. Once I have that and get the VPN setup, I'll have access to the website again and can get us a race done this week.

    Taking a Week Off

One thing I didn't consider is that I don't have access to the server all the web stuff is hosted on from my apartment, since it's at my mom's place. Until I get everything transferred, we won't be able to run IDS. I'll try to get this done by next weekend.

    Taking a Week Off

I theoretically will have internet come Sunday, so I would like to plan to have a race this week. I will let you all know if anything changes.

    Taking a Week Off

It seems I'm not the only one busy this week. Let's push it off til next week. No guarantee I'll have internet next Sunday, but I'll do my best to make sure I'm ready to roll for next Thursday. I'll let you all know if something changes.

    Taking a Week Off

I am in the process of converting my main operating system to Linux (for many reasons). I am 90% sure RoR will run properly on Linux given enough time to screw with it, but I make no guarantees that we'll have an event this week. I can already say that qualifying will be pushed back at least a day. I also have a lot of packing to do to get ready to move next weekend. If nobody minds, I'd like to just push off for another week to get all my ducks in a row, but if people absolutely have to have IDS this week, I can dual boot into Windows to make this work.

    Taking a Week Off

Hello everyone, There are a lot of things going on right now. I'm getting ready to move in two weeks, and there are some bugs with the website that need to get patched up, so I'm going to go ahead and give us all an off week this week. We will definitely resume the following week at New Liberty Stadium, so be ready for that!
  9. Congrats to Mark Colineri for his 2nd straight racing win, and also for tying with David Stewart for the freestyle crown with a 30! Next week we head out to Belgium for New Liberty Stadium! Be there!
  10. Qualifying is done folks! Exactly 16 people came to qualify which means everyone made it! Brackets are posted below: http://www.runt9.com/ids/bracketView.php Here are the quali times from the week: +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ | name | time1 | time2 | average | +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ | Mark Colineri | 19.81 | 19.90 | 19.85 | | Alex Vester | 20.63 | 20.68 | 20.65 | | Kevin Miller | 21.50 | 20.78 | 21.14 | | David Stewart | 21.27 | 21.17 | 21.22 | | Robbie Milburn | 20.47 | 22.00 | 21.23 | | Chadwick Deerfoot | 21.72 | 21.68 | 21.70 | | Devin Doss | 21.60 | 22.04 | 21.82 | | John Dough | 22.51 | 21.26 | 21.89 | | Andrew Marsh | 20.89 | 22.92 | 21.90 | | Damian Bowers | 23.92 | 21.71 | 22.81 | | Zach Nicholas | 23.65 | 22.72 | 23.18 | | Kozak | 20.79 | 25.61 | 23.20 | | Ryan McCauley | 24.52 | 25.90 | 25.21 | | Tyler May | 20.94 | 32.04 | 26.49 | | Mark Iron | 32.22 | 22.35 | 27.29 | | Curt Wagner | 21.26 | 99.99 | 60.62 | +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ Since we had exactly 16 people, this means no subs. This means I will be dropping people from the bracket and people will get byes if people don't show up. Keep in mind the rule from last week is permanent, so if you do not show up and do not tell anyone why you didn't show up, you will lose all 4 racing points and your 1 bonus point!
  11. Everyone, the update is complete (for the most part)! The only front-facing changes you'll notice right now is the brand new bracket system. The old one was too cumbersome, so I rebuilt it from the ground up yet again. This one is larger, prettier, and now has the ability to highlight someone to see their path through the brackets. Also, you'll notice a week selector at the top of the brackets and freestyle pages. This will allow you to go back to previous weeks and view those results. Soon, previous qualifying results will be available to the masses as well. I'm still planning on adding a couple more admin pages to make it easier to manage points and brackets, since that was the purpose from the beginning. This will make it far easier to manage mistakes and replacements. As always, it's a new program, essentially, and there will be bugs. They will probably have to be ironed out this week, but I feel as if the logic behind it is strong enough to not fail.
  12. Hello there everyone, Last week's event went pretty smooth, but also made me realize how broken the website's back-end was. To make any modifications to the brackets or points, I had to go in and edit the database by hand. I have put in about 14 hours so far this weekend and will be continuing to work on it to make sure it's ready by Thursday. I have already re-done the qualifying system though so that we're ready to go for this week. What this means, however, is that we're essentially back in the beta stages. Mistakes can happen in programming, so I expect a bug or two to come up while we're racing. If you notice anything off, please let me know! Here are the details on the event: - Will take place Thursday, May 30th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST) - This week we head to Le Mans, France to RCD Stadium (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/638-rcd-stadium-20/) - Qualifying begins Sunday, May 26th at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, May 29th at 10:00pm EST. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.
  13. For those of you curious, some of what I'm doing (in addition to making adapters in PHP to the database, finally...) will involve setting up Historical Data. Starting with this past week, all weeks/seasons brackets/qualifying/freestyle will be available on the website so you can go back and look at any previous event. This is going to be a huge step in doing weekly recaps as well as providing more features and immersion to the website. UPDATE: It's going to take more effort than it's worth to update the data from this previous week to the new schema. I already have to convert all of the drivers and points, which is a huge deal, so the historical data will start from this coming week starting on Sunday!
  14. Hello everyone, I'm am making some serious modifications to the back-end of the website, and as such it will be down for maintenance throughout the weekend. Please understand this is to make everything related to the website's performance and easy of use better.
  15. Solid event tonight. The Teamspeak only thing definitely made everything smoother so we'll be sticking with that for the rest of the season. Congrats to Mark on the racing win and Robbie on the freestyle win. Thanks again to Robbie, David, Mark, and Curt for all the help tonight.
  16. Getting ready for the event now! Message runt9ab on AIM for the Teamspeak info!
  17. Sorry for being so late on this tonight guys, but here's the brackets: http://www.runt9.com/ids/bracketView.php Exactly 16 people showed up to qualify, and hopefully that means 16 people will show up tomorrow for the race. Here is the qualifying: +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ | name | time1 | time2 | average | +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ | Robbie Milburn | 13.91 | 14.35 | 14.13 | | David Stewart | 14.36 | 13.96 | 14.16 | | Alex Vester | 14.35 | 14.25 | 14.30 | | Aaron Lurie | 14.41 | 14.63 | 14.52 | | Tharindu Don | 15.11 | 14.96 | 15.04 | | Zach Nicholas | 14.82 | 15.56 | 15.19 | | Michael DesRoches | 16.03 | 15.51 | 15.77 | | Tyler May | 16.10 | 15.54 | 15.82 | | Kozak | 16.00 | 15.64 | 15.82 | | Tristan Skyles | 17.80 | 14.69 | 16.25 | | Andrew Marsh | 16.50 | 16.10 | 16.30 | | Damian Bowers | 15.52 | 17.21 | 16.37 | | Curt Wagner | 14.69 | 20.12 | 17.41 | | Devin Doss | 15.32 | 21.80 | 18.56 | | Samuel Michel | 17.01 | 21.04 | 19.02 | | Jared Murillo | 99.99 | 14.88 | 57.43 | +-------------------+-------+-------+---------+ And here is the truck list required for the event: El Toro Loco Vengeance VII Captains Curse Chaotic Intentions Copenhagen Crusher Hot Shoe AAP Grinder Son-Uva Digger Canadian Crippler III Gentle Ben 1 Radio Active Sick Kiss Northern Nightmare Amsoil Shock Therapy Grave Digger Night Strike Reminder, we will ONLY be using Teamspeak tomorrow. If you have not downloaded it, please do so. If you refuse to download it, please let me know so I can remove you from the brackets. Teamspeak server is always up, and I will give out the IP on AIM to whoever is online and hope it gets passed around to those who need it.
  18. Quali is open everyone! Message one of us to qualify.
  19. I will be giving it to the people who made the event on AIM to let them know. Also I will make sure everyone can pass it around to who belongs in the event if I don't have the racers on AIM.
  20. Here is the link to the TeamSpeak download page for anyone that needs it: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads
  21. Hello there everyone, Last week was quite rocky, and because of that, I feel like I need to change something to make sure this doesn't happen anymore. I'm instantiating some new rules this week to try them out and see how it works. If this fails miserably, then they will be disregarded for future events. 1. Teamspeak is now mandatory and will be the ONLY CHAT USED! This means there will no longer be an AIM chat. Forcing my officials to maintain 2 chat rooms is a terrible idea and the problem with it arose last week. Teamspeak has a great text chat feature at the bottom while still maintaining the ease of voice chat for the officials. This means that we will be able to do all the driver's meeting, all the calling in, etc through Teamspeak and that will speed things up and prevent errors where something was only said in one chat but not in the other. If anyone is unwilling to download Teamspeak for whatever reason, I apologize but you will be unable to participate. 2. Anyone who qualifies for the event and makes the field, and then neglects to show up or inform an IDS official before the race begins that they will not be at the event will LOSE THE POINTS THEY EARNED for that night. In other words, they will lose 4 racing points and 1 bonus point for this (and top quali points if applicable). I know this sounds like a harsh rule, but I am sick and tired of having to replace 1/4 the field with alternates because people don't show up and don't tell anyone that they're not coming. Forgetting is not an excuse, and if you know that you have plans that night, let someone know ahead of time so that the alternates can be notified before it's time to start the event. 3. Each time someone leaves the game during freestyle when they have not been told by an IDS official that they can leave, that racer will be docked 1 point off their freestyle score for the night. I cannot stand that we had to constantly remind people that during freestyle, all racers must stay in game until all racers in said game have performed a freestyle run. We need 4 judges available, and we can't do that if people leave the game. Obviously if someone is freestyling early and needs to go, this is a valid excuse and the penalty does not apply to them. However, if someone performs their run and leaves without saying anything, they will have a point docked. We had some racers do this as many as 3 times last week, and if they do that this time, they will lose 3 points off their score. I realize these seem harsh, but there is no excuse for some of what happened last week. I realize I need to be more clear on how all of this stuff works, but there were people that had been here since the very first IDS preseason event that were doing some of this crap, and it's just not going to fly anymore. I want the events to run smoothly because it makes it much more fun for everyone. I also refuse to let what is going to be the 2nd biggest event of the season be brought down by mistakes like last week. Hot Shoe put his heart and soul into this track for 2-3 months to get it ready for our league, and the last thing I want to do is dishonor his work by directing another terrible event. If anyone has any problems with these rules, please contact me personally with your concerns. I don't want to hear any negative feedback in this thread as it will distract from the event. Here are the details on the event: - Will take place Thursday, May 23th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST) - We're heading to where the main face of Top Gear was born, Doncaster, UK (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/785-international-dragging-series-clarkson-international-autodrome/) this week - Qualifying begins Sunday, May 19th at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, May 22th at 10:00pm EST. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.
  22. For the record Shoe, he made it in as the 16th seed even though he was the 2nd slowest qualifier because the random number generator likes him for some reason. Aaron, you were slightly at fault, but you had viable reasons for what went on. I don't blame you for any of it. As for the mess with Austin, let's stop beating the dead horse. What's done is done, he's banned from the league, and we move on.
  23. Tonight was one of the worst events I've ever directed. Period. I'm not going to detail all the things that went wrong, but I am going to say that this league needs more maturity and assistance from some of its racers. The officials can't do it alone, we need everyone to be ready to go and do their job. I don't want another night like this to ever happen again. On that note, Austin Smith has been permanently banned from all future IDS events. His express lack of concern for rules and his inability to listen when officials were telling him to do something, not to mention the private subordination on AIM after the race, have landed him underneath the ban hammer. Congratulations to Michael DesRoches for taking the racing crown and Damian Bowers for taking the freestyle win with a 31. I hope next week is better than this one. Thanks again, everyone!
