  1. That was poorly set up.  The van and cars should have been pushed way out of the way.

Same thing as last year in East Rutherford, NJ. When Tom backed up to align himself he backed into the cars that were sitting there and knocked himself out of alignment a little tiny bit. Being perfectly aligned as possible is crucial in this kind of predicament.

Either way Tom Meents missed it by that much. Tom did have one strategy here that I had in mind for a double backflip to work, lots and lots of speed on the rotations. If only he was rotating a little bit faster and rebounded a little higher in the air I think Tom would have landed it.

That's my constructive criticism for this, but still, this backflip craze in my opinion has got to stop. The backflip was such a unique move to see when Tom Meents, Larry Quick, and Cam McQueen did it for the first time. Ever since then the backflip has been done to death and it is not that spectacular to see anymore because we have seen it so many times now. But hey, that's just my opinion, and probably many of yours as well.

  2. Only problem with that, he may over rotate, or risk driving the front end of the truck into the ramp on entry.  The 2nd one may be unlikely, but both could cause some serious damage.

Well that's why I also have an idea for the ramp as seen below.

If the bottom of the ramp is elevated upwards like so Tom won't be at risk of slamming the front of the truck into the ramp, the front tires will be hittting first, which is what you want.

Also, in my mind, if he does properly rotate 720 degrees in the air, and over rotates it and lands on his roof, I still count it as a double backflip. Even though he didn't land back on all 4 wheels he still went 720 degrees in the air anyways.

  3. The only thing I can say to Tom Meents with the setup he's running, is to be rotating extremely fast. Rotating way faster than both attempts previous to this upcoming attempt. That way he can land on all 4 wheels before the truck twists like both previous attempts.

  4. Everything looks good here fellas. Can I make one little suggestion. On trucks Rock Star and California Kid, are they going to have actual Rockwell axle's with the brake rotors on the outside?

  5. I don't know if this is just me over thinking this or if it is true. I was looking on MonsterJam.Com and I was under the events page. All the shows listed for 2014 are listed as Monster Jam, not 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam. And some of the latest videos FELD has uploaded to YouTube don't have the 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam symbol shown at the beginning or the end, they show just the Monster Jam symbol. Now does this mean that FELD will be dropping Advance Auto Parts as the title sponsor, and the tracks will be going back to more colorful designed tracks? The track color part doesn't really bother me but I know many others on here have mixed opinions about it. So what do you people think, do you think this might be true?

Here's the events page to let you people see what I mean.

Watch the very beginning of these videos, no Advance Auto Parts over the Monster Jam symbol.

  6. A lot of people were complaining about how Carl Van Horn wasn't in this years World Finals, but in fact he was in it after all. Carl Van Horn drove Batman in freestyle, just learned this from watching 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam World Finals 14 on SPEED moments ago. I never knew of this until now, interesting indeed.

  7. holy crap that first hit

I know it's a little early to say this but Donald better get into 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam World Finals 15 next year and not the Young Guns Shootout again. Donald Epidendio has showed us many times that he can be a hard charging independent as Jim Koehler, Jimmy Creten, Steve Simms, and Bill Payne. I hope to see Donald personally next year in Las Vegas, NV and give all the FELD trucks and drivers a run for their money.

  10. Well I graduate from high school in the beginning of June this year and later on in that June I will start going to automotive training school. This here begins my long awaited journey on getting into the monster truck industry. After automotive training school I will then go to business school so I can open up my own small business to cover some costs of my monster truck, maintenance wise any way's, while everything I earn from the monster truck goes right back into the monster truck. After business school I will stay home for about 1 year to 1 1/2 years. Then I will move out to wherever monster truck team I will work and crew for (2 teams I have in mind that are the closest to me are Rettew Motorsports in Lancaster, PA and The Slifko's in Pottsville, PA). Once I have worked and crewed for them, drived for them if I am lucky, and got my small business up and running, I will then begin to build my monster truck, which I will call Quiet Death. After the monster truck is complete I will work on and drive my monster truck all over the country until I am dead.

It's a 10 to 12 year goal I have set for myself to work on and drive my own monster truck.

So that's my story and plan on how to get into the monster truck industry and work on and drive my own monster truck. So now I ask you people, what are your plans to get into the monster truck industry? If you are already in the monster truck industry, how did you get involved?

It looks like from the ad that it's only the chassis being sold and not the whole truck completely. I heard about Dan wanting to get rid of this old chassis because he wants to create a new The Patriot on a new Racesource chassis, while Tropical Thunder will run on the Racesource chassis The Patriot is currently running on.

I hope Dan Rodoni does well in his new chassis and gets to the Young Guns Shootout next year because he is one good driver.

  12. I just found out that FELD is bringing 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam here to Philadelphia, PA this year.

    http://www.monsterjam.com/Events/2013/10/04/Philadelphia,_PA/

The only thing is that it's going to be at the Wells Fargo Center, which means a small arena show. But at least the people here are getting something this year, and next year the big stadium show at Lincoln Financial Field will be back up and running. I might be able to go to either the Saturday 2:00pm or Sunday 2:00pm show, or maybe both if I am lucky. Only thing is that I will more than likely be going by myself and have to pay for the ticket(s) myself. I'm still trying to find a job to make that happen. I still don't know if me going is official.

  13. Still sad that FELD isn't bringing 'Advance Auto Parts' Monster Jam Path of Destruction here to Philadelphia, PA this year (because of Kenny Chesney and his management). But it's good to know that I heard that next year there will be 2 shows here in Philadelphia, PA to make it up from this year. And I will be definately going to both.
