So time for a double post here but I feel like this is a pretty big deal. I've heard from around the community some resentment towards newer versions of blender. Heard things about how you cant export tracks and some other silly misinformation so, I decided to look into this, I'm sure a few guys remember me working on this and figuring things out, but I'd like to think this is my proof of concept, using Blender 2.79b (not newest anymore but darn close) and all newer resources from the rigs repository for exporting so its easy to access for everyone without giving out spoopy mediafire links with old software. I have a track built and put in game. Working, sans some issues with ramp angle and such (being a first track I expected as much for future fine tuning) but I'm extremely happy with the results and I can't wait to tackle more projects in the future. Please leave me some feedback on what I can do better in the future, not sure if this will get released, may just throw it into a stadium model and get it out for people to mess with. But for now, this is the "more to come soon" post. Looking into the idea of doing some very in depth tutorials for newer creators, but thats still tbd. Not sure if its really that big of a deal, but I figured I'd share regardless since I know we've certainly had a drop off in content creation.

How were you able to export through 2.79b? Everytime i try to export, it doesnt spit out the usualy .mesh & .material.

Thats really the only thing that turned me off from using the newer version.

Alrighty so normally I don't really post here, but I feel I need to share this for a good reason (sorry if you've already seen it).   I need opinions on how to make Dragon's paint better.  It's good, but I'm definetely looking to improve it.  Thinking perhaps the dragon's skin texture needs the most help.  Does anyone have good ways to improve it?  I'm open to all suggestions, and will consider/try all of them!

******(side note: I only take credit for the paint)

For starters, i applaud you for actually hand painting instead of using a low quality photo texture. Good Job.

I would definitely advise you to take another  look at the body. theres a lot of nice detail in the highlights/shadows that you're missing out on or didnt put full effort into.

Overall, take your time. Try some new techniques. Never rush. The end result will be so much better.

i actually have some really good reference shots of the ice paint. Just shoot me your discord and ill send them over!

I have been building the body for Big Kahuna for the past few days, and I think it's almost finished.

I'll probably have to make it thinner.

this is the content i expect to see in SYP.

I think the front fenders can be a little wider. they look a bit thin. The body looks too squared, its a lot more round than what you have.

I'd also recommend splitting the body into two piece to make it easier to work on as well as the real body being 2 pieces.  Hood and Body

(sorry for the bad photos. not a lot of photos of this truck surprisingly)

I do think a big part of what made the site so active was having leagues that ran and uploaded videos of an event the same week or week after it happened instead of what seems to be several months if at all (you know who I'm talking about), it's a nice attempt but likely to not draw a crowd in.

You can use either of these for streaming and/or recording without streaming: OBS is free and I think Xsplit has a free version you can try.

I may still have some tracks but I'd have to look and see but I'd probably just start over at this point if I'm able to get blender to work with me on my current computer and yes it would directly connect to potential feature events as I don't really care much for racing outside of just getting to play around and see what I can do and I know I suck at racing and sadly most events rely on being able to qualify in which I feel also severely dissuades newcomers from wanting to compete. Perhaps a league solely for new racers or older ones looking to get back into it could be one way to attract more activity. I know it's also generally frowned upon but perhaps an actual prize of some sort on the line for winning a feature event or major league would also create interest again.

i kind of meant reaching out to the channels solely post content on their own. Possibly having them shout us out in the videos or representing us in some way.

I actually like the idea of creating a novice league with open entries. Im not sure how a price would work, as i've never really been behind that, but a brainstorming session may bring up good ideas.

If enough people want (upvote) this I'll release it but if theres no market for it ill keep it private:

MY VERSION OF THE (possible) AVENGER ICE! COMPLETE WITH SPARKLES.

And yes before you say anything, I switched out the chassis with a Spec-tacular...and shine-tacular...one.

The sparkle and metallicy blue looks superb man.  I'd like to get a look at it first hand but idk wwhere  you're getting this "market" thing from . the site is free lol.

Swanson? Why do they brace the shock mounts with a short link and hemi's?

its due to relocation of the shock mounts.

They made new brackets to improve the track width and give that extra shock travel and stability whilst still being able to use PEI housings, as opposed to the Anderson's or Team Over Bored that achieve this with different axles and planetary arrangements.

I literally have no idea what I'm gonna do with this, was just in the mood to mess around in blender and voila. Body was made by either Sheets or Fern (not sure which) and the chassis is the old Xtermigator from Kozak's pack.

But I did have to heavily modify said chassis to fit the body on it properly, to show you how much I present this little extra show and tell pic.

On the bottom is the original chassis, and on top is the one I modified.

    Sheets made the body!

i merely mapped it out 👍

Not all Christmas presents come wrapped and under the tree in the morning.

    Merry Christmas Sim-Monsters!

Again, I would recommend the rims that were used on Hooked 2018, and re-textured a lighter silver.

A lot of old school and current indies, run those guys. pretty universal.

Hey guys.  Yes it is really me.  haha.  A few people have asked me on social media too.  I spent alot of time on iracing last winter and figured I might as well give ror and beam a shot too!  I have a bad ass gaming computer and rig but have no idea what im doing in terms of downloading software and setting up controls and whatnot.  I will see what I can do tonight!  I have the latest version of ror I guess.

I would recommend using ROR .4.6. over the newest version .4.7. The latest version has a tad less realism and the throttle sticks at random moments which will drive you crazy.

    Here's the link.

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/7rjir4dv5b75h0a/Rigs-of-Rods-0.4.6.exe

Also, please be sure to download ONLY .4 tracks, as those will only work with your version.

Trucks are more forgiving and usually work on any version you use, so feel free to browse around and choose whatever catches your eye.

Feels good to be on summer holidays again, anywhoo

These 2 trucks were part of my childhood and i always loved to drive them in mtm2 (specially at night), thought they would be cool to do in RoR...

    oasghosu.PNG

    hiuhi.PNG

Started this in july, finally got to finish it

    nwingpatrols.PNG

And my favourite project i've ever done so far... (still some things to line up before its completely finished)

    Oh and Merry Christmas!

Wow, i love u for those top two.

For the modern day MP, the bodies have a matte finish.

I would also lighten up both blacks on the rims and body.

No beadlocks on the green rims, but i'd recommend using the ones off of Hooked 2018.

aaaaand i'd probably snag the shocks off of Barbarian 2015 and paint them black. Those look to be the closest to the real thing.

All in all....Im glad youre on winter break.
