Bizarre Truck Issues

savage1customs

Question

Good Afternoon All,

I have been experiencing some very odd truck issues since reinstalling the game in September. (I used to play back in 2010/13 when I was in Germany).

I have the .4 ROR (whatever updated one was around in september)

Originally when I was downloading Trucks, I would open the folder, highlight all the files, copy, and paste them into the truck Folder. A Message would appear asking if I wanted to replace already existing files in the destination with the same current file. I used to hit no. Then the problems began. I asked some close friends that have gamed on ror for years, they said they always hit replace files. So I started doing that these past few months. No changes.

The Problems: Sometimes when I spawn a truck in the game, the truck appears, and ill have a whited out chassis stuck to it(example, I spawned carolina crusher and i had a white koehler chassis stuck under its race source chassis) Other times Ill have two bodies stuck to one truck. Example, I spawned Zombie El Toro Loco, and instead of a zombie scheme, I had the red el toro loco, with a soldier fortune body stuck to it. Various trucks are spawning in with solid Red Wheels and black beadlocks. Another example, I downloaded a namt truck "sansibar", it has yellow knuckles. Every max d/wilman truck i have now has yellow knuckles. I deleted the sansibar truck out of the game and my laptop completely, and still all the knuckles are yellow.  Every namt truck ive downloaded, the engine rpms once it goes passed 1500 rpms it sounds like a very high pitch wind up toy as if the truck has infinite rpms. If I spawn in 1 truck, another one takes its place. Example, I spawn in Overbored C10, and another C10 will spawn in instead.

That was some highlights of whats been going on over the months.

Recently I experimented, what if I download the truck, and just copy the zipped folder and paste it into the ror truck folder? So I picked a truck, deleted it from ror, went into the game settings, hit "update cache", exit game, download that truck again, noticed the folder stays zipped, and no copy destination messages. I went into the ror game, back to settings, hit "update cache" again, spawned that truck, and boom it has its paint scheme. So I started doing this one truck at a time, boom, boom, everything has its correct colors, settings, and graphics. No more hanging chassis etc. I do some playing around, download one track since, go back into the game a day later, and boom, all the trucks i fixxed, back to missing paint schemes, duplicate bodies, etc.

I don't get it. At this point all I can think is somehow I have a corrupt file somewhere, and I just need to delete all my trucks and start over from scratch, which is going to suck big time as for i have over 800 of them. It just seems like everytime i download a new truck, no matter how i put the files into the truck folder, every truck previous to it is over written with the new trucks files and its ruining some of my trucks. The physics are the only thing not being effected. Even the exhaust sounds will change sometimes to whatever newest file that is downloaded, is using.

This is a last ditch effort, all my friends could tell me is, how in the world do you manage to have these problems, literally noone else has them. I honestly have no idea, I just download what I like and run on my own to kill time while in korea. Maybe someone on here knows something I/they dont. With that said, please do not insult my intelligence.

Thanks for anyones expertise in advance!

Hi there,

I would highly recommend uninstalling the .4 version of ror (as the game has recently been updated about a couple days ago) and installing the newest version (aka 2020.02). Also, any trucks that have white textures (white tires, white chassis, white marks on the body, etc.), means that the truck is highly outdated for the version of ror that is being used. Once again I would highly recommend deleting any trucks that have that issue. If the problem still persists, then contact me via Discord (Chaos2TheMax#8628) and I can guide you through resolving the issue.

Thank you and have a great day!

Okay I will try that. Is there a download link somewhere for the newest version? With that said, can I save my truck and track folders, put them elsewhere, and then when the new version is downloaded, paste all the trucks/tracks into the new version? Thanks for your help.

2020.02 has a singular mod folder for both terrains and trucks. I’ve had no trouble copying and pasting files from other folders into that new mod folder.
