0 Patriotic Canadian
SM did a really dumb thing by having one texture for all chassis components. I can't even begin to describe how silly it was so yeah, nothing doing

0 Patriotic Canadian
well i'm pretty sure someone from SM's club made it that way, it's your pack. Well that is unless you're stealing meshes and textures. So which is it? Crap idea, or a crap idea that was stolen? And before you say "let's see you do it" or "how would you do it mein fuhrer?", i'd create standardized textures, such as Monster_glossy_Spec_Generic.dds, Monster_Frame_Generic.dds, Matte_spec.dds etc etc, so that the pack is always consistent in materials, yet remains easily modifiable. Then i'd have a slightly standardized map for frames, and a big old parts texture for non changeable parts (Motor, transfer case, driveshaft, diff etc), and a seperate texture for colourable parts on each frame. Shocks, fourlinks, hydro rams, the frame itself, driveshaft loops, so on so so forth, and ship each 'standard' frame with a PSD with CC all set up so people can modify that. This way, we get consistent textures throughout the pack and custom trucks too. And yes, i have done it already with non public ROR projects. I don't know if V5 is going anywhere but that's how i'd do it then.
0 Outlawed
It was made that way for convenience and to have just one file. This was before baking and "proper" texturing became more common practice. Call the method whatever you like but it did its job.
0 Patriotic Canadian
Yes and it did it poorly. that's the point
