125 days ago SSRS made its return in Philadelphia, PA for the first Preseason event of 2015, and the first event since mid 2014, since April the league has moved through 17 stadium shows with 49 total competitors.  The season has brought out some great competition in all three competitions.  The Preseason left guys like Joshua Micks, Will Meyer, and Aaron Lurie atop the heat.  While only picking up a total of 4 wins all season long, Aaron has proven his abilities through consistency and a strong performance every week out.  As the season went on, Aaron Lurie was the only one to remain in the Top 3, now alongside Johan Seminario going into the Play-Off Series.

Johan's season didn't really get going until midway into the Regular Season, being plagued consistently with underperformance for his abilities.  However, since a freestyle win in Oakland, he has reemerged to be the top tier driver he's proven himself to be before.  While only getting 1 win through to the Play-Off Series, Johan has set an unprecedented and never to be repeated feat of two straight Double Downs to start the Play-Off Series.  Determined to comeback strong from an Overall Points Championship two years ago in a league that was once his own, he has dominated against his competitors, averaging 90.7 points per event, 18.7 points more then Aaron Lurie, who sits 56 points behind going into the last event of the year.

While an Overall and Racing Points Championships may be more than likely in Johan's grasps, freestyle will be decided in 4Corners Coliseum, just as it was in 2013.  This time with a bit of a roll-reversal, as Julio Vellon Jr. sits just 1 point behind Johan in the points chase.  Leaving it up to anyone to win the title, Saturday's action should be the best SSRS has to offer.

Half way home for the Play-Off Series, as SSRS rolls into MS Metroplex.  Johan Seminario has been on fire through the first two events, has he is currently undefeated in racing and freestyle, only tying for a win the first event.  Points still remain close, and Johan could lose his lead at any moment with guys like Aaron Lurie and Julio Vellon Jr. chasing close behind.  Johan's performance so far has earned him a tie for the most all-time event wins in the Play-Off Series with 4, tied with Julio Vellon Jr., who has earned all 4 of his wins in freestyle.  Something to take note of going into the third event is the change in space on the track.  Both Open Air Field and TR Stadium featured some of the least clustered courses these drivers have seen all season, while MS Metroplex has been known to be a close spaced racing course, leaving little room for freestyle.  This could play crucial for Johan Seminario as we have yet to see him excel in such a stadium this season.  The Play-Off Series is far from over and its still anyone's game to try and win the 2015 points championships!

The first ever Play-Off Series held by SSRS in 2013 crowned Johan Seminario the Overall Points Champion, and early on, he is the top contender for this years title with his Double Down performance in Open Air Field, the first Double Down ever by any Play-Off Competitor.  His work payed off, giving him 93 points in the first event and a solid 18 point lead ahead of second place.  This week we are moving into a smaller venue in TR Stadium.  Originally the third Play-Off event in 2013, it held ground to the last freestyle win for Julio Vellon Jr. in his run for the Freestyle Points title.  Back now for another chance at redemption, he is already on his way, as he shared a split win for Freestyle at Open Air Field.  He won last week with a 43, only leaving him 1 point over second place, and a tie with Johan Seminario for the lead.  The second event of the SSRS Play-Off Series will be the turning point between the contenders and the competitors.

After first making this track back in 2013, I have created the 2015 version for this year's SSRS Play-Off Series. It features a similar racing layout to the old one, just reversed. The stadium has been remodeled and looks far better than its original. The paint takes from the 2015 Monster Jam track colors of Purple and Orange. Hope everyone enjoys!

With the Regular Season Finale in the rearview, SSRS rolls into its second edition of the Play-Off Series.  The Top 16 have been set and competition is about to get underway.  With a clean slate across the board, any of the 16 has just as much a chance to win it all as any other.  Racing will provide great action, as most competitors are still adjusting back to the original all racing, all freestyle format, leaving less points to work with and more of a chance to fall behind.  Some prominent racers to watch out for include Aaron Lurie, Johan Seminario, and Jack Merkle, all three making the racing bracket nearly every event this season.  Some to watch for in freestyle include Blake Thompson, Andrew Sheets, and Seth Holloway, all who have performed consistently through the Regular Season.  And one of the big themes to these points chases is consistency, which has proven fatal in the last Play-Off Series, as Julio Vellon Jr. had cleaned house for the first three events in freestyle to only lose the Freestyle Points Title by a few points after rolling early in the fourth event.  Winning can get you more points in a night, but finishing at the top of freestyle each week can get you even farther.

  10. Update for 8/3/15:

    Announcing the SSRS Play-Off Series:

After 5 Preseason events, 8 Regular Season events, and 1 Regular Season Finale, we have finally reached the climax of the SSRS 2015 Tour, the Play-Off Series.  The Play-Off Series is the culmination of the best of the best of SSRS, the Top 16 in Overall Points after the conclusion of the Regular Season.  What is the Play-Off Series?  It is a four event tour that determines the SSRS Points Champions of the season.  Who will be competing in these events?  The Top 16 from the Overall Points of the Regular Season.  These people are:

    1. Danny Mackey
    2. Aaron Lurie
    3. Johan Seminario
    4. Andrew Sheets
    5. Blake Thompson
    6. Seth Holloway
    7. Devin Doss
    8. Jack Merkle
    9. Julio Vellon Jr.
    10. Mason Watts
    11. Joshua Micks
    12. Chadwick Deerfoot
    13. Fernando Martinez
    14. Dalton Widner
    15. Dylan Dudley
    16. John Dough

Well, I am not on this list, how can I still compete?  In trying to let people still run in these events, we will be allowing 8 extra drivers to compete in both racing and freestyle.  However, they will not be competing for points.  But, this does not mean that a Play-Off Series competitor will automatically earn 50 racing points if they get the farthest in the racing bracket and do not win.  If the best Play-Off competitor only gets to the semifinals, then they will receive the typical 30 points they normally would.  Luckily this doesn't effect freestyle, outside of who is the winner.

Now the only thing left to do is run these events.  Each event will be held for every weekend for the rest of August, running in the original four stadiums of the first Play-Off Series, Open Air Field, TR Stadium, MS Metroplex, and finally 4Corners Coliseum.  The only thing that is needed is some feedback.

In this thread there will be a poll featured, asking how we should run the Play-Off Events, qualifying on Friday with event on Saturday, qualifying and event Saturday, or qualifying and racing Friday and freestyle Saturday.  We will be accepting responses until Thursday, August 6th at 12:00 midnight.

If you are on of the Top 16 and will not be able to compete in 2 or more events, be sure to message myself on here or AIM (danny.mackey) so we can replace you in the field with someone who can make the events.

  11. Qualifying has concluded for the majority of the field, but there are still some people that have yet to qualify, those being:

    • Johan Seminario
    • Dalton Widner
    • Zach Nicholas
    • Griffin Bishop
    • Michael Alford
    • Jeremiah Riter

These people will have until midnight before getting a DNQ and getting put last in the bracket.  Also fill-in driver's that are eligible to race may qualify at this time.

AGAIN, QUALIFYING IS DONE ENTIRELY AT 12:00 EST/11:00 CST TONIGHT!
