  1. Though I don't want to say that IDS is the league for noobs, it really is. The reason being is just this: If you make a qualifying pass, you have a chance to make it. And trust me, getting beat by the best a few times makes you practice your butt off so that you can beat them someday. Join up sometime, we run every Thursday at 8!

  3. I will say that we have had 19 people qualify so far (I have not put my run in yet), and excluding the very bottom time that's a bit of a flier, the #1 and #18 spots are separated by 2.95 seconds.

Only an hour to get those runs in! IM me to quali.

  4. Hello there everyone,

After an extremely successful week 1, it's time to see if we can keep the momentum going for 2 weeks in a row for the first time. I wanted to thank everyone, once again, who came out last week to support the series, and another special shout-out to Matt Wilkinson for hosting the second server for us. I had a great time and I'm looking forward to continuing this season.

Here are the details on the event:

    - Will take place Thursday, May 16th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST)

    - We're heading to the land of maple syrup, Vancouver, CA (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/616-bc-place-2012/) this week

    - Qualifying begins Sunday, May 12th at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, May 15th at 10:00pm EST.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.

  5. Qualifying is closed! We had 18 people qualify (I left it open a bit later due to technical issues), and here are the 16 that are into the field for tomorrow night:

    http://www.runt9.com/ids/bracketView.php

The two people that didn't make it in are:

    Tyler May

    Alex Vester

Those two are the alternates for tomorrow. Remember folks, Teamspeak will be used for most of the announcements, so get it downloaded ahead of time!

EDIT: Matt Wilkinson pointed out that I had the bracket ordering off a bit, but it should be fixed now. Be sure to check it out!

  6. Good evening everyone,

As we have seen from preseason the International Dragging Series is set to take RoR by storm. The innovative bracket system, combined with automated qualifying, freestyle, and points systems has proved to decrease the time officials have to spend doing hard stuff by over 73%, giving them more time to focus on improving the quality of life for all racers involved. Now it is time to move forward into the first season of IDS starting on May 9th, 2013. This is where it all really starts, and I'd like to go over some of the changes from preseason that people can expect:

    1. Driver's meetings will be restricted to 5 minutes. It is assumed that all racers know the format and have read the rule book beforehand before the race even begins. We will not spend 20 minutes making everyone aware of how the league works.

    2. Chat locks at 8:00pm EST on the dot. Anyone who comes in after that date will not be allowed to race unless a former excuse is given and accepted by an IDS official. If by 8:05pm EST, we still have open slots that have not been filled by understudies, the brackets will then lock and we will move on to the driver's meeting with the top seeds without a racer to face getting bye runs.

    3. Early leavers in freestyle must be brought up during intermission. This allows manipulation of the order to accommodate those who need to bow out before their regularly scheduled run without disrupting the flow of freestyle once it begins. After intermission, the freestyle order locks. If you can't make it to your run, you will get a 0 for the night.

    4. A Teamspeak server will be setup on my home Linux server for this event. If the quality proves to be too bad, I will be buying one before the next event. Teamspeak will work so that driver's meeting can go quicker, we can do interviews with our winners, officials can communicate to each other easier, as well as other features. This will not replace, but merely supplement the AIM chat, and is most certainly not mandatory. All standards held for the rest of IDS apply to the Teamspeak server as well.

As you can tell, these are all meant to improve the flow of the show. I realize that we're already the fastest 16-truck show around, coming in right around an hour and a half from meeting to completion, and it's not like that's a bad thing. However, I want to guarantee that everything that can be scheduled ahead of time is done so that once the show gets going, there are less surprises to throw us off course.

Here are the details on the event:

    - Will take place Thursday, May 9th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST)

    - We're heading to the massive Remington Fairgrounds (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/694-remington-county-fairgrounds-round-2/) this week

    - All points begin here, so be sure to put in your best effort, because even a single qualifying pass is worth 2 points!

    - Qualifying begins Sunday, May 5th at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, May 8th at 10:00pm EST.

I'm not expecting the first regular season event to go off without a hitch. However, I would like to think that the two preseason events leading up to this have prepared myself, my officials, and all racers for what's to come.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.

P.S. I would like to formally welcome Mark Colineri on board as a full IDS official as our Vice Server Administrator and Racing Manager. He was a huge help during preseason by hosting and help run/manage the second room, so I asked him to join the team officially and he accepted, so please everyone treat him with the same respect you treat the other officials.

  7. Congrats to Mark for the double down (and top qualifier!) tonight. Here are the final brackets and freestyle for the night:

Also, the points system seems to have gone off without a hitch. All the point look solid to me, and I don't see any real reason to revise the system as it sits. I will keep all the results on the site until time for the next event to begin, which is current TBA, though the projected start date right now is May 2nd. Keep your eyes open for the official announcement post coming soon!

  8. Based on the fact that your last name doesn't fit in the current bracket format, yes, lol. Also the database says yes.

EDIT: For those wondering, here are the 3 people who did not make it and are the alternates, in this order:

    Alex Vester

    Aaron Lurie

    Curt Wagner

  9. Alright everyone, a little less than 2 hours left to qualify! I will be on the rest of the night, as will Robbie, and Shoe will be on for a little while longer as well. Get with one of us to get a pass in. We are sitting at 16 currently qualified, so we will have people getting bumped. Good luck to everyone involved!

  10. Good evening everyone,

Last week's event was hugely successful, but brought up some concerns that were addressed, as well as the need to finish integrating new features. Here's what's changed for this event:

    - The start time has been pushed forward to accommodate people that would normally have to get up early the next morning

    - A new freestyle page (http://www.runt9.com/ids/freestyle.php) as well as an easy way for admins to import the score has been developed

    - A bug in the bracket system that caused things to get misaligned has been fixed

    - The integration into the points system has been completed, meaning every event that should give you points will automatically update the points table

That last one is the most important reason why we're having this event. The first three changes aren't enough to warrant another preseason event, but testing an entire new integration system is. As with last week, please be on the lookout for anything that looks wrong so that it can all get corrected before the regular season

Here are the details on the event:

    - Will take place Thursday, April 18th 2013 at 8:00pm EST (7pm CST, 5pm PST)

    - We're heading to Jerry World (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/669-arlington-2012/) this week

    - We will follow the rule book completely, so PLEASE make sure you read through it first.

    - This race will be for MOCK POINTS. The points will be cleared after the race, but we need to test that the entire system is working flawlessly

    - Qualifying begins Sunday, April 14th at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, April 17th at 10:00pm EST.

I'm also going to be treating this like a real season event. This means that the chat will LOCK at 8:00. Anyone that comes online after that point that has not previously notified me or an IDS official that they will be late will not be allowed to run. I will be pushing full warnings/bannings during the driver's meeting. I also will NOT be spending 20 minutes discussing the format of the league. I expect everyone to come into it ready to roll by 8:10. Last week we finished in round about an hour and a half, so I would very much like to see us finish up the event by 9:30. I think it's do-able, so let's all do our part to keep things moving smoothly

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me or one of the other IDS officials know.

  11. Tonight's race was pretty spectacular! Matt Wilkinson came away with the win in racing, and Michael Murray took home the freestyle win with a 31. Things went really smooth tonight, other than a small bug with the bracket system. Now it's time to iterate, develop a couple new features, and then we will have another preseason race. Be on the lookout for announcements soon!
