  1. Ladies and Gentlemen, qualifying is closed! We had a total of 17 people qualify, and here's how they stacked up:

Tyler May was your fast qualifier with an average time of 9.30

Julio Vellon was the slowest with an average time of 12.27

The fastest single time on the charts was Michael Murray with a 9.10

The brackets have been automagically generated. Check them out here: http://www.runt9.com/ids/bracketView.php

Since there were 17 people that qualified, the top 8 were locked in:

    Tyler May

    Robbie Milburn

    Michael Murray

    Damian Bowers

    Josh Gajewski

    Aaron Lurie

    Matt Wilkinson

    Glen Milburn

The remaining 8 slots were chosen from the remaining 9 drivers. That means one unfortunate soul got bumped. That person was Devin Doss.

Everyone, I think this event is going to be huge! We start tomorrow night at 9:00pm EST, which means the AIM chat will go up at 8:30pm EST. Be there!

  2. Alright everyone! 3 hours left until qualifying closes, so be sure to get those passes in! If we don't get a full 16 truck field before close of qualifying tonight, then we will have to postpone the event until enough people qualify, so keep that in mind. I will be online through the end of qualifying tonight, so be sure to contact me if you're unable to get a hold of one of the two others!

  3. Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to take this time to announce the official start of the IDS Season. The IDS website has been officially finished (www.runt9.com/ids) and we are ready for launch! What this means is that it's time to knock out a preseason race to iron out all the bugs and kinks of the system before the real season starts. Here are the details on the event:

    - Will take place Thursday, April 4th 2013 at 9:00pm EST (8pm CST, 6pm PST)

    - We're heading to the Gelredome (http://sim-monsters.com/index.php?/files/file/787-arnhem-2005/) to kick it off

    - We will follow the rule book completely, so PLEASE make sure you read through it first.

    - This race will not be for any points, only for competition.

    - Qualifying begins Sunday, March 31st at 9:00pm EST and runs until Wednesday, April 3rd at 10:00pm EST.

This will be the first test of the IDS Bracket System that I personally have programmed from the ground up, so I totally expect a bug or two to come up throughout the race. That's why we're doing this. So please be on the look out for improper ordering, wrong qualifying times, etc.

In other news, I have stripped 2 weeks from the season in order to make sure this first season goes smoothly and give us plenty of time to get ready for an awesome Fall season. Otherwise, I think we're all ready to go and as soon as the preseason event is over, I will announce the starting date of the regular season. I hope everyone is as excited as I am to get things under way!

  4. Hello everyone,

I thought it'd be good to give everyone an update on how things are going, as well as some changes coming into the 2013 IDS year.

The website is almost done! I just finished up the bracket system tonight and it's looking sick. I will post a video some day showcasing the behind-the-scenes stuff of the bracket system, qualifying system, and whatnot.

In order to move the first season along without hiccups, the following two features of the league have been removed:

    1. Weekly Recap Videos will no longer happen. This is because I do not want to have to force 2 people to spend the entire night being videographers, especially since the quality control on that is difficult. I also do not feel I will have the time to accomplish this during the Spring/Summer season.

    2. Timing of every race. The bracket system was becoming far too difficult when you couldn't just select a winner and move on. Having to enter times for each and every driver on each and every race was becoming too much of a pain to code, so I decided to do away with it. It'll also make race nights run smoother anyways.

I think these changes are acceptable in order to proceed through the season without any hiccups without proving detrimental to the overall experience of the league.

Also, I would like to announce that there will be no official summer season this year. Because we are getting off to such a late start now, the Spring season is now the Spring/Summer season. This does mean we get a longer break between Summer and Fall, but that also means more time to develop new features and innovations!

As of right now, the projected start date is March 28th with a preseason event either on the 14th or 21st. I will be keeping everyone updated here just as soon as I know more!

  5. What's a romantic life?

On topic, I should be finishing up the website over the next week or two, so it's looking like mid-late March may be our official starting time. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated as things move forward.

  6. Hello everyone,

As you know, I was planning on starting this league sometime this month. However, due to losing some interest in the game and getting busy with a lot of other things, the league has been pushed back to March at the earliest. We'll probably end up doing a combined spring/summer season this time around. I'll keep everyone updated on what's going on so we all know when the league will begin.

  7. I would like to personally thank Hot Shoe for all the time and effort he put into that track. This is exactly the kind of top notch work I wanted for IDS, and he came through with more than I could've imagined. Based off of what we've seen so far, I think IDS is going to have one hell of a schedule.

  8. As long as he has a case, hard drive, and power supply, the mobo/proc/mem/vid card shouldn't cost more than 400-500, realistically. But the rest of that does jack the price up a bit if he doesn't have it.

  9. Hello all,

As many of you know, I have made a couple trucks for this game. Some of you are surprised at how quickly I can churn them out. I honestly don't think we need more truck makers around, but I think it'd be really cool to see more people get into it and start making stuff.

The common misconception is that you need to know blender to make trucks! However, you could not be further from the truth. Now yes, if you want to model something from scratch, blender is useful, though I'd rather use a true modeling program like 3ds Max or Maya. What you REALLY need is the ability to use Photoshop and have the basic knowledge of how to navigate through blender. That's really it.

So, with that said, I think it'd be really useful for many people out there aspiring to learn truck making to have someone show them START TO FINISH how to make a truck for this game. I don't yet know when I'll have the time to do this, but I would like to do a live stream showcasing the entire process of how I personally make a truck. I'm thinking I might do this sometime next weekend. I will go into as much detail as possible, answer questions, etc. It should theoretically take about 3-4 hours, so be prepared to sit through all of it. But you will learn everything from how to import into blender to paint the body to export and edit the truck file. I will also record this so people can go back and watch it later, as well.
