  1. Been noticing a bunch of trucks have started to stop running bowties. Is there a reason for this?

I might be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that the bow ties are only features on CRD chassis. CRD makes the mount for them and they are bolt-on pieces that act as a crush point in case the truck takes a hard impact but also doesn't do any "actual" chassis damage. Main testimonial for that was EVO this year after Mikey's first backflip in Vegas:

  2. Also it would appear that Paul Breaud (owns Instigator and the newest Backdraft) has bought Eradicator and the old PEI Backdraft

Yeah, he brought those two trucks from Andy a while back. He's kept it super secret until about a month ago. Paul's daughter Maddie Myers will drive Eradicator and Ty Cornelius' son, Ty Cornelius Jr., will drive the old Backdraft. It will more than likely get a new identity, but I believe Paul is working to get both trucks ready for the summer of 2016, unless he plans on cramming it in and finishing them up for the winter season, too.

  3. OG Black Stallion is making a come back isn't it?

Mike was going to try to have it done for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony this year, but there wasn't enough time to finish it. He definitely wants it done by the summer of 2016 to at least have it around as a roller truck for his 35th anniversary celebration. He has a lot of other very cool stuff happening for 2016, however... ;)

  4. Okay, so I retract my statement earlier about it being Jeff, apparently it was Rosalee driving according to Facebook. But bloody hell that must cost a ton on travel, especially on an independent budget.

Also since Chris Arel seems to have an affinity of never releasing full lineups in a cohesive fashion, I'm trying to create a cohesive lineup for Montreal Show 2:

    So far I've got

    1. Overkill Evolution- Mikey Vaters
    2. Bigfoot 18- Larry Swim
    3. Black Stallion- Matt Cody
    4. Brutus- Brad Allen
    5. Red Baron- Trent Montgomery (I assume)
    6. Wrecking Crew- Steve Koehler
    7. Bounty Hunter- Jimmy Creten
    8. Scarlet Bandit- Dawn Creten
    9. Iron Outlaw- Brian Maes (I assume since the other three will be there)
    10. Avenger- Jim Koehler

    Anyone I missed?

There is a very slim chance that Mike Sr. will drive Stallion, but let me reiterate...

    ...very slim...

  5. Apparently Koehler & co. is disassembling the original Brutus chassis and they're building a new one, probably for Rummel.

They're taking whatever good parts are left on it and throwing it on Cory's new truck (which he is designing and building himself with Jimmy financing it), and the chassis itself is getting scrapped because it's probably one of the most patched-up, abused frames in all of monster truck racing today (besides Wrecking Crew).

  6. Can't wait for Reno, I might just have to go to all 3 days worth of shows instead of two..

    What's everyone schedule looking like?

    2016 Schedule:

    Jan 16th: Anaheim

Feb 13th: Anaheim (May not go if I get offer to photograph NHRA Pomona race)

    Feb 20th: Oakland

    Mar. 4-6: Reno

    March 17-19: Las Vegas

    April 9th: Santa Clara

Your first quarter schedule is already way more packed than mine. The tables have turned for 2016...

  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that Mike Vaters Sr's chassis that Evo is on?

Yeah, that's the Black Stallion chassis with the Overkill Evolution body on it. The Iron Warrior and Overkill Evolution chassis should be back from Mexico City, MX now, but they weren't back in time to make it up to Markham, ON, so Mike, Mikey, and Matt threw the EVO body on Stallion and is running it like that for 4 more shows (2 in Topsfield, MA today, 1 more in Markham, ON tomorrow, and 1 in Simcoe, ON on Thursday).

  8. Carolina Crusher has BKT's for Philly. Also, one of the Instagram idiots said that JP Ruggiero was fired for an affair but DanDon commented that it was far from the truth. Dan, could you elaborate on this to a more intelligent audience?

The fact that someone wants to spread the rumor of JP getting fired for having an affair is utter stupidity. I'm not going to say much more on it.

    Went mudding ;)

You're gonna wanna tone down the spec map on those headers. They do have shine to them, but they're not chrome like that. Some of the Magnaflow zoomies that Feld trucks run are chrome, though.

  10. 3. Is Mike Vaters seriously back to running Black Stallion on it's old body? If yes, then the 2014 body looked WAY better.

There are 2 Black Stallion bodies: the Safety-Kleen one and the regular one. The regular one has been on Matt's truck (which is Iron Warrior) since the beginning of August while the Safety-Kleen body mainly stays on Mike's truck. The Safety-Kleen body is still here in the States while they kept the regular body on Matt's truck when it got shipped down to Mexico on the 15th. Matt, I think, is only running this body for 1 more show this season, but things could change. They keep 2 Stallion bodies around for the sake of promoters wanting the Black Stallion name to run at their show but the name could be double-booked in 1 weekend. For example, next weekend, Mike will drive the Safety-Kleen Black Stallion up at a small show in Canada while Matt runs the regular Stallion body at a show in Topsfield, MA.

  11. I didn't know that. I know Overkill Evolution and them use 'em, but aren't they just spears from 2014?

Mike brought 8 EcoWork tires in late 2013 and 2 more as spares in late 2014, so he's got a total of 10 tires still on the property.

Also, they can't get molds like Ukraines like people are suggesting because the whole reason they have the really low amounts of grip is because the cleated tires were deemed too dangerous. It's not just Ukraines, it's cleated Good Years, or anything with too deep of a tread. The low grip is a side effect of making things safer, and there really isn't much they can do to change that.

Because the EcoWork tires had too deep of a cleat when it was initially produced, the whole fleet of Feld trucks had the edges chopped off of them to reduce all sorts of different things, from clumps of dirt getting thrown into the crowd to parts breaking off the truck and getting grabbed by the edges and getting flung off the truck. Thank God nothing like that happened, but it's a preventative measure that was taken and is very wise.

The difference between EcoWork tires and BKT tires are that BKT designed a tire for the sole purpose of monster truck racing that's extremely light and a little light on the tread so that it can be used in all sorts of applications (dirt, mud, concrete, sand, etc.). EcoWork just produced lightweight agricultural tires using recycled materials and they just so happened to make a bad ass 66"x43"x25" agricultural tire that worked out to be one of the best tires to ever be used in monster truck racing, cut or uncut.

  12. Someone posted a brand new chassis from Digger's dungeon marked C-92, and said they were told no one there knew what body was going on it.

Is it just me or does it look different. obviously it has no bow-tie, but is that it? paging Dr. Kozak for answers.

To me, the entire roll cage looks like it's sitting a bit farther forward as compared to Cohen chassis that run standard truck bodies. I'm not chassis expert by any means, but that was the first thing I noticed. The tubing from the front shock towers to the roll cage looks a little bit stubbier than regular Cohen chassis.

  13. Look at Colton tho, he was in college all during first quarter.  and she was going for it for her first MJ event, she rolled in FS lol

I'm sure that if she had the benefit of flying show-to-show and being able to arrive late Thursday night to an arena and be outta there by Sunday night that she'd be able to do a full first quarter schedule. But Calgary might just be it for a while now since she's going to college in Georgia.

  14. Wildwood was... wild. 3 trucks blew engines, and Josh was fortunate enough that Rick drove his hauler from Canada to Wildwood instead of Canada to the shop, but Josh would have been out of a truck for Saturday night. Bigfoot #14, Higher Education, and Avenger suffered engine damage all at the Saturday afternoon show. Koehler lost oil pressure twice in freestyle, and at the night show, he broke the nose off the crank shaft and toasted his engine. Everyone broke something that weekend, but the only truck with very little breakage was Walking Tall, proving why Maxie won KOTB. I never expected him to run as hard as he did, but dang, he tore it up. And the updated racing course definitely proved to be a great one, because it was the best racing I've ever seen at Wildwood.
