  1. Tantrum race truck debuted this past weekend (sorry for the large pic). Looks to running with SIR or they maybe have a deal with them. Joe Sylvester also drove Dirt Crew this past weekend and won freestyle.

Pretty sure Dillon worked out a deal with Brandon to pay some dough to throw the Tantrum name on one of their bodies and chassis to run. And rumor has it Joey might be driving Dirt Crew for a few more shows.

  2. It's nice that they're expanding it, because the #MoreMonsterJam shows were absolutely incredible. However, this doesn't sound good for indies. I wonder if they'll have seperate points championships or be combined.

EDIT: Just watched it, he said "more Monster Jam tours are coming your way." Never said anything about multiple #MoreMonsterJam tours.

There will be multiple #MoreMonsterJam tours (2, in fact). There are other expansions going on for 2016, too.

  3. Looking at upcoming events, a few more things were noticed:

    1. Eldora Speedway will be seeing 10 trucks for the first time ever, and by the looks of it, Ground Pounder is back with a new driver (Roddy Fahnestock), and SUDDEN IMPACT IS BACK!!! :D

    2. El Toro Loco will be driven by Bryan Wright for Sunrise, Florida... pretty weird if you ask me.

Roddy's been driving for about 2 years now, and Sudden Impact has been in circulation for about 3 years running now, so there's nothing fantastic here. Especially when it comes to that team...

  4. 1) Increase Pit Party time. This has been an issue for me a couple times, where I can't meet all the drives because the pit part is literally over in 1 1/2 hours.

    2) Stop 3D bodies. I mean I understand the whole "so one body can fit all chassis" deal, but they've had awesome bodies before and dumped them because they needed a 3D body (for example: El Diablo)

    3) Different jumps. In other words, I would really like to see a return to more cars and buses. Seein a track made out of 90% dirt gets old.

    4) Different tracks colors. I don't mind some variation from purple and orange or green and orange or blue and orange.

1.) Pit party times can vary on multiple different things, including when the venue says it's okay to open gates to their place. So that comes down to a bunch of different things.

2.) 3D bodies are brought into the industry to help increase merchandise sales and increase a fan base, and in turn, that means more revenue for the company or team that did it. 3D bodies, despite some of them looking ridiculous, are genius to increase sales and profit. It's a great tool for the industry that increases popularity and revenue... so why not have it?

3.) Cars, vans, buses, RVs, planes, etc. are being phased out because of increasing costs. Plus, some venues don't have junk vehicles available for certain weekends or don't have any available at all. Dirt is just flat out better for the overall show quality, because it provides a consistent track for everyone throughout the show, so when everybody's favorite Gwave Diggah comes out, he can have the same shot at the wheelie contest win as the first guy or gal out in the competition.

4.) The Monster Jam Fox Sports 1 Championship Series featured something different each week this year, whether it was plastic color, obstacle color, or whatever. Even though for the most part we do see purple and orange used, there is variety going on all over the place.

  5. Hey Retro, I noticed you say Mike Harper rarely competes. He still competes a lot, you don't see him that often because he limits himself to Texas shows and the pit party at Vegas. He recently built a new truck (Thunder Chicken) and I think he owns a Monster Patrol, so I think that you'll start to see more of him starting in first quarter of 2016.

Not so much that. He only does first quarter shows because he races in other series during the summer and fall. He's gone farther than Texas to compete before.

  6. Side note- Anyone know why Mike Miller didn't run for Q1? Like I think this is one of if not his first show he's done in all of 2015

If I remember correctly, Mike did run a few Monster Jam events with the Hotsy body on, since none of the Ram trucks were booked for Monster Jam at all. Mark and Mat ran all Monster Truck Nationals events while, I'm pretty sure, Mike did some weekends with Monster Jam. I don't think he had a full Q1 schedule.

  7. It's only July but I CANNOT WAIT for August 19th and 20th at the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  I talked to Zane and the line-up is crazy good!  Trucks that are going to be there are Stinger, Equalizer, Red Solo Truck, Quad Chaos, Dirt Drew, Xtermigator, Ice Cream Man, Killer Bee and Car Killer.  This literally is the best line-up I've seen yet.  Beats out any Monster Jam event worth going to in a 200 mile radius of me.

Man, whoever Drew is must be dirty.

  8. With the direction that modern chassis design has gone, I highly doubt that you'll be seeing a monster truck do any type of floating any time soon. As Mason said, the exhaust will more than likely be submerged and the intake could potentially reach the surface of the water. If the exhaust gets changed to upwards facing pipes, then there's more of a possibility there. And, I do think BKT tires would be good for a situation like this seeing as they can take as much as 35 psi whereas a Goodyear can go as high as 20 psi, a Firestone going as high as 25 psi, and an EcoWork reaching around 25 psi. The buoyancy of the BKT tire could help with floating, but it does pose more of a risk of tipping because of it being very buoyant. I guess you can never say never, though.

  9. Can I point out how well Dalton Millican is doing?

He only ran arenas the whole first quarter, and his first stadium show was in Spain, but here in his fourth Stadium, he's already putting on better freestyles than a lot of FELD's drivers, and definitely better Freestyles than I would have ever expected from someone so new to the game.

Check it out, he's not afraid to get after it in the slightest.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2LCtJ3FSmY

That goes to show you that Dalton's a natural talent behind the wheel. He put up a great freestyle for only having about 11 months of driving experience under his belt.

  10. And I highly disagree about him saying no cars. Having cars is what built this sport to what it is today.

Yes, cars are iconic to monster trucks and it's always nice to see some cars, vans, and even some buses and other crap on the track... but dirt is just flat out better for an even playing ground in all competitions. I can honestly go without cars at Monster Jam shows.

  11. Well well, what do we have here?

First person to guess correctly wins nothing.

Why, it's none other than the super secret not-so-secret #MoreMonsterJam #MyMonsterJam Monster Jam Fox Sports 1 Championship Series Monster Jam truck test facility, based in Paxton, IL.

  12. Hey DanDon, is MMR going to be on Vaters chassis or is he driving Black Stallion?

Well, Mike is only campaigning the Monster Mutt Rottweiler body for Monster Jam for one more show and that's in Hagerstown. The body will be on his chassis (usually runs as Black Stallion) and the red paint on the beadlocks will get stripped back down to the gold layer. Matt will run the Safety-Kleen Black Stallion on his chassis (usually runs as Iron Warrior), and obviously Mikey will be in Overkill Evolution. That is the last show with Mike driving Rottweiler for 2015 unless another Monster Jam show comes up and he has to run it again.

  13. Why is FELD using more and more indie chassis to put their bodies on? I mean, nothing wrong about it, but I've just noticed that especially in the last year, a number of trucks at shows have FELD bodies but indie chassis. Is it a run-out-of available chassis type of thing?

It's all about the marketing. They want the most popular trucks in the most popular markets, and they want those trucks to perform well. Also, a handful of trucks were supposed to leave the States and go overseas half way through the first quarter this year, so that meant that those trucks would be missing in those markets. That's the reason why Dan Rodoni ran (and continues to run) the orange El Toro Loco, Mike Vaters ran the Monster Mutt Rottweiler body, and Aaron and Daron Basl ran the New Earth Authority Police and Monster Mutt Rottweiler bodies on the #MMJ tour.
