Well, I think it's an interesting idea, not sure how well it will work, but as for competing in events, the article says

"For now, the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT® No. 20 Monster Truck will be used in static displays and parades, but as we become more experienced with the electric power unit, battery maintenance, controller adjustments, drive lines and weather, our fans may just see it perform car crushes or even compete in monster truck shows"

As for the use of batteries, the truck will have three sets of ten batteries powering the electric engine, and the remaining six powering the rear steering and the brakes.

They said that they had left a few trucks out form the truck-list to maybe put in in the patch, or another time I believe

I made a mod to the burnside a while back, making it like a derby car. I deleted the mod though because I was unhappy with it and wanted to make my in-game burnside closer to stock. But here is a pic, just for proof.

However for making a league, there would be way too much lag made by 8 or more burnsides than I would stand, so that would be a challenge. But It would be cool to have places where you could in theory do that.
