This whole situation has made the Monster Jam fanbase appear to be legitimately mentally insane. Seriously, in the past few days he has died, been in the act of dying or completely fine and able to drive this upcoming week. Just because Monster Trucks thrive off of fan interaction does not mean these people owe us every detail of their lives every moment of the day. Respect the mans privacy like you respect his legacy, whatever he chooses to do moving forward is entirely his decision. I hope for all the best but he has already given everything he has got to this sport for 35 years. All I care about is seeing him retire with his health and well being first and foremost.

I saw someone comment if this accident was "planned." I have no idea why someone would think this kind of accident would have been planned.

  2. Well, FELD is shutting down Ringling Bros Circus. I think FELD's budget cuts are a lot more serious than we thought. This, combined with the all of the cuts MJ has taken this year is interesting. This is confirmed by Ringling Bros Twitter.

I think there is a possibility MJ could be bought out again, although it is probably unlikely.

  3. My opinions on the new schemes:

I like Iron Outlaw, has a lot of new stuff and is very reminiscent of the old 2006-2011 design.

Bounty Hunter and Scarlet Bandit are neat, I like the older designs more but the new designs are still pretty awesome. Bounty Hunter's font also looks a lot like if not the same one used from 2000-2003.

Snake Bite looks awesome, again, I prefer the older design but the new design isn't bad by any means.

Barbarian is nice, new twist on a somewhat older scheme.

I like Basher but at the same time I don't. I like seeing Kevin Lewis back and apparently he put on a crazy show tonight, but the truck does not look as good as some of the other ones, like Quad Chaos or Bad News. It looks unfinished and rushed. Hopefully a new design comes out later, I just feel like the truck was not done by the time first quarter rolled around. I see what they're going for with the look and the name, I just feel there's other ways to do it. Still awesome seeing Kevin Lewis back though.

I think Wrecking Crew is very unnecessary. The original design was very simple yet not boring, and I don't see why they needed to add the red to the back of the truck. It also makes the red font a little hard to read (I'm not saying it is not readable. It is readable, just fades in too much). I prefer the older scheme. I don't mean to sound so negative on this one, I guess I just don't like it.

  4. Yeahhhh. Monster Trucks does not look good just by the trailer. It is a huge misconception and I feel like the movie kind of makes actual monster truck competition look a bit more, I don't know, childish or something like that. I feel like the idea behind the film isn't great either. I don't plan on seeing it, waste of money in my eyes. Maybe it'll be good though, time will tell.

I wont agree with you on all January movies being bad, though. There's a new M Night Shyamalan movie coming out in January called Split, it's about this dude who has 23 personalities and the acting by this guy is phenomenal. I know M Night movies has a tendency of being bad, but this one looks really good. I'm just going off of trailers, though. Could be another bust.

I used to do a lot of that website. I made a lot of pages. People started getting hold of the pages and now a lot of info is wrong or flat out not true.

its pretty amazing how many highlights we get from arena shows now. Id rather go to them than stadium events.

That's one of FELD's biggest improvements over the last 3 years. I remember before 2015 when arena shows were basically one level above a low-budget fairground show. There might have been one rollover per weekend. FELD completely turned that around and arena shows offer the same excitement as a stadium show does. I'll also credit them on finding drivers that pick up driving these trucks so quickly, arena shows really offer more entertainment than they used to.

  7. Monster Jam Officials have changed the shirt they've been using since the 90s. Instead of a shirt with a black and white checker stripe going down diagonal with black beneaththe stripe and red above it, it's now a half black-half yellow shirt with a big USHRA logo on the back. I liked the old ones but at least we get USHRA logos still.

that's actually kinda sad. i mean i hated the recoloured max d's and grave diggers but i thought the black and yellow etl's were nice.

    eh well

Yeah. I wasn't a huge fan of the all of the Max-Ds (except for the golden one that ran at WF 16). The different colored ETL's were pretty cool. I hope McDonald finds a way to stay in the business, he is without a doubt one of the best at racing monster trucks, although I can see himself retiring so to say from the actual racing.

  9. In your opinion, what innovation furthered the sport the most? It can be rollcages, freestyle, driver safety, 3D bodies, drag racing, big time sponsorships like Metal Mulisha and Hot Wheels, or anything!

I think drag racing from TNT to Penda to Monster Wars (these few series aren't the only) furthered monster trucks pretty far. When TNT rolled along, the craze for monster trucks had started, but now they raced instead of just crushing stuff? Actual racing with a points championship? Yep. Drivers now had to design their trucks for racing instead of exhibition car crushes. And this pushed monster trucks really to where it is today. The Penda series launched off with drag racing, showing off the power these newly designed race vehicles could make. Monster Wars followed with a more technical side, making drivers have to think their way around a course and maneuver it flawlessly to win. Before TNT and others such as HART Productions, trucks would slowly crush a car. When legit racing came around, drivers designed the trucks to race faster and lighter. Without racing, monster trucks could still be vehicles mainly used for a single one-and-done car crush, although this is unlikely with the way Bob Chandler continued to push monster trucks. Points championships like TNT and Penda sped up that process.

    Post away on your thoughts!

  10. I like to start with some massive air, usually hitting the biggest obstacle right at the start. Then I like to get my run a bit technical, cross-threading and using rebounds to wheelie the truck. I try to get a reverse move in when possible without sacrificing my run.

And racing? It's fair to say I am awful at it.

Pretty sure they make one ever 2 years and CM8 was released in late-late 2013. Could be wrong though.

Usually each one covers two years; like 8 was 2012-13. And yes, 8 was released around Christmas in 2013. If there was a 9, and MJ followed this 2 year pattern, then 9 would be 2014-2015. I don't think they'll make another one; it seems like people don't watch dvds as much as they used to with online streaming and all of that stuff now (I still watch dvds and use them and I'm sure many people do, just not as many as before). And they released CM 8 in a way that seemed they did not want to continue the series. CM dvds usually got ads and stuff but MJ really scaled back on the promotion for 8. They also stopped doing dvds pretty much as a whole after 2013, besides the WF dvds. I remember between 2007 and 2013 they would make Digger Anniversary dvds, Freestyls, Crash Madness, Controlled Chaos, and a bunch of Mega Crash Madness with two discs in one and Chaotic. Also the True Life of Tom Meents, History of MTs in the Pontiac Silverdome, and the True Life of Madusa. After 2013 there weren't any more Freestyle dvds, CM dvds, there wasn't a Max-D 10th Anniv. dvd, and they stopped doing single presentations like the Max D backflip dvd.

They really haven't released anything new besides the WF stuff and some old re-releases of some 80s footage. I don't think you can even find the 80s dvds on their website anymore. I don't think they want to make dvds at all anymore with how much they've cut back on the production of them. At least this gives the guys at Throwdown less competition to make stuff like Joyride.

  12. I'll give a little update on what I've done so far:

    • I got an RPM Slash front bumper, and it's held up to some collisions on the front end. It's scuffed up but I don't care; as long as it protects the truck I don't care how scuffed up it gets.

    • I did get some RPM control arms but need some camber/toe links to install them correctly.

•I think I stripped a gear; there's a clicking noise and I looked into the spur gear. There isn't anything in between the teeth that caused the clicking and the teeth look kind of worn where the clicking is occurring.

Monster jam streamed some highlights from the past years in facebook and i uploaded it to youtube

I remember those days when i woke up very early for seeing MJ in speed...

That's actually Crash Madness 8. Monster Jam never gave it a trailer or anything and just silently released it. It's the last of the series and they haven't made another one since. Which is a shame because the series was first made in 1998ish and the entire series has monster truck (CM 1 also featured motocross, demo derbies, tuff trucks and a bunch of other stuff) highlights spanning from the mid-late 80s and all the way to 2013. I have all of them on DVD and still watch one from time to time. It's interesting to watch the older ones, especially 2-5, and see how Monster Jam has evolved over the last 25 years (counting TNT Motorsports that makes it almost 30). Not to mention CM 5-7 have so much nostalgia since most highlights are from the time when I was a kid and would watch part of an episode at 7 before my school bus came. I really wish they would get another one out, showing 2014 to 2016. I wonder why they haven't, unless the sales began dying out.

You could just change the video title to Crash Madness 8; I believe that's the only full upload on YouTube. I'd be cautious though, FELD could flag it or whatever.
