  1. They do take a beating but there safety equipment and roll cage keeps the safe during insane crashes I mean I have seen a car going 150 mph jump a ramps a wreck while flipping about 10 times and only have a few scratches. I know they do hurt to drive one because they aren't giant pillows and from experiences in dirt bikes sometimes the landings hurt. But if you look at what happened to that monster truck in Mexico you should be thankful that monster jam has rii and tries to keep you safe. Things do happen were stuff fly off buts it's not the only motor sport were it happens

And i am thankful for the safety. Could it be improved, yes. I didnt even know tom had a step son. We have been very lucky so far, knock on wood. "punches hole through redwood tree"

if you are on a desktop or laptop, please use the edit post. Helps clutter. THANKS :D

  2. Well there not going to put you in danger I mean if the didn't let,the trucks try to save it (only in a big stadium) then the should wouldn't be fun

Safety comes before fun, sound like a parent but its true. it may not make for a good show but im probably not the only one who winces or looks away when they floor it when on their roofs. balhan at WF 15 scared the crap out of me. Underside of trucks facing the crowd is just disaster lurking in the dark. This topic has been covered a lot though. O well.

it does seem from the line ups a points system could be in the near future.

  3. Not intentionally no, but there has been several instances of trucks chucking parts into the stands (Tacoma being the worst, Crusader had a shock cap end up in the stands at one show and the Doomsday encore had a truck chuck some sort of part into the crowd aswell). Trucks are allowed to get even more out of shape and allowed to try to recover from crashes or rolls even more so then last year. You give those two factors more time and there will be more instances of it.

I am not even going to get into the drivers and how much abuse they take from driving. They do a masterful job of keeping it to themselves and not making it public but if you think they don't hurt, you are just ignorant. These guys and gals put their selves through hell for our entertainment.

im surprised as well actually. My worst fear is 75 mph plus through thunder ally, tire comes off. Its like a bouncy ball no one is safe... Driver and Fan safety needs to be tripled in someway shape or form before it gets to crazy. Im surprised dennis or tom can even walk anymore with the beatings they take. or any driver that is.

  4. What if it's not a typo...  I looked at all of the shows that weekend and Meents' Max-D isn't listed at any other venue.  Also "Tom Meents driving Grave Digger" is the only FELD truck in Memphis that weekend.  Meents trailers alone, there is no Digger truck at that show, why would it not surprise me that FELD would throw a digger body on Meents' chassis.  If I were FELD I would want a Grave Digger truck at every show (Since that is what bring money).  We might see a Maximum Digger.  Or Grave Destruction.  Kill me now.

just checked and it seems they went back and spell checked everything. tom is in max-d.

Fans (like you guys, not gonna put "us" because i dont really contribute here, wish i could) of the sport understand what is going on behind the scenes and what it takes to be in this sport, but the ones who go for the show and not the sport, their expectations are high. It can only get so big.IMO, monster jam is at that point where they are extremely close to the roof. but you cant really raise it? So sooner or later, "As Big As It Gets" will be a literal slogan. Correct me if im wrong but thats just how i feel.

  5. What gives you the gut feeling that this year is going to be bad? As for surprises of people not being in specific shows, not everyone wants to see the same trucks year in and year out. There is only one of each Team Scream trucks, other shows need to have them every now and then.

Thats not it. Just kinda feel like its not gonna be "AS BIG AS IT GETS". or this could be the best year ever.

  6. I guess the question should be asked, what do you define as the "worst wreck"? Overall damage to the truck or injuries to the driver? Because although the Hot Stuff crash and the incident with Ryan weren't as violent as others, they resulted in some of the worst injuries in monster truck history.

I assuming you are asking me, it can be a mix of both or neither. My opinion is damage to truck or driver injury, or both. Also how violent the incident. I mean a simple roll over can be painful i assume. But this thread is mainly to get the peoples opinion of what crashes they think are violent, destructive, or bad enough to cause driver injury. I also look at the time period. In my opinion penda had the worst crashes. Monster jam now has had a couple but the safety has changed a lot since penda.

  7. Bumgarner never threw a strike to at least six hitters. KC was a small ball team trying to hit it out. They were young and anxious. Alex is a lot faster and if he would have ran hard out of the box and looked at his third base coach instead of the ball, he may have been able to score.

  9. This would be one of the worst crashes I have ever seen:

It's up there, I heard about huffaker hitting a pole and injuring people and a hotshoe monster truck crashing causing the drivers heart to stop.

A lot of Penda crashes were pretty bad.

I'm going to assume he was okay because he was moving around afterwards.
