  1. Here is the setup:

There are 3 metal rings together in a row. The middle ring is attached to brackets which are attached to the top and bottom of the knuckle. The outer 2 rings are bolted together underneath the middle ring so they can bolt to the wheel hub and spin with the wheel.

So how does this keep the wheel on better? More to break I assume? I thought the tether thing worked but prohited driving the truck.

  2. That's why there are wheel restraint systems in place. The tether system has its flaws, but the fixed disc restraint has proved to be the best option. Travis Petri and Steven Thompson are prime examples as to why the fixed disc is starting to outshine the tether.

Can you explain the disc, is there any video of it working? Or anywhere i can read about it?

  3. After i think blackwell going into the stands, luckily no one getting hurt. They put dumpters up and it showed how well they worked. Im not worried that anymore. But i am worried about a tire. Meents in atlanta 2005, massive air over a racing jump and tire goes flying off, safety did its job. They are professional drivers. Alex jerking the wheel and flipping the truck saved lives. They know the limits, koehler wasnt close to the fans thiugh.

Everyone says that vegas is small but it doesnt really seem that small, quite large looking to me.

  4. I noticed a lot of tutorials are for 2.65. I recently go blender 2.49 and have no clue how to use it. Been watching tutorials but getting little from them. Are 2.49 and 2.65 the same? And is setting up ogre exporter that same as well. Really wanting to make my own custom tracks.

  5. I have thought this same thing. I love Monster Jam (all other monster truck events as well), but the size of the obstacles has been worrying me lately, especially this year. The fast J-style track is cool, but when you look back at the events where Captains Curse as well as Titan, slamming into the wall (going over into the stands in CC's case), any malfunction and that can happen. The officials can't catch everything before it happens. Sometimes they just can't tell or don't know. Monster Jam has been a major offender of safety violations and hazards for the past few years and it's really starting to concern me. I think it's time they scaled back on the obstacles (especially in Vegas), and stop cluttering up the WF track and move the obstacles further away from the stands. On that note, put the "sick air" jump on the other side by the scoreboard to give more room in racing so they can thin the track a bit.

    Explain the safety violations.

  6. A new worry for the future, something will happen like recent accidents like Mexico and the Netherlands will ruin it all. That a careless small promoter could make the mistake and it will be ruined for the business. This is one of the safest sports there is as long as people aren't careless. Also worried about Vegas becoming to dangerous. It's the best place to have it in terms of income but it needs to be redone in some way. Worried that if something goes terribly wrong at a monster jam show or X show will be the end of it.

  7. You just contradicted yourself a whole lot there. You want destruction, but now you say it makes for a bad show. You said toms run was the best ever, but now you say it shouldn't have won. Dafuq?

sorry, im confusing i know. i meant destruction of obstacles, not trucks. IMO is was the best run ever, i am a maxd fan,  but it wasnt a winning run. it is a run i would like to go back in time and see for myself. But it wasnt a world finals winning run? pablos and paukins runs were worthy because the truck held together and they did things others didnt do.

  8. IMO, it's guys like honetguy97 that are what's wrong with the industry. Broken trucks make for a horrible show.

i could be, and i agree that broken trucks make for a horrible show. World finals 5 wasnt that good to me either. I dont want to see someone go out and destroy their truck. I like what tom did was because he did what he could with a broken truck, he put on a show with what he could do. i know he just ran over stuff for a minute, should it have won a championship, no it shouldnt, neither should lupe or madusa. so you are right, broken trucks make for a bad show.

  9. Can i take the body from one truck and put it on another without blender? like a hotwheels body onto another chassis wiht the .truck file? i took a .mesh and and pasted it where another should go and it put two trucks in one, is there a way where only the body itself will go

  10. Awesome thread. I don't post to often but i feel the need to participate in this one. I'm more than likely one of if not the oldest of the community so i have seen the monster truck evolution from the beginning. Personally my favorite era would have to be from 1989-1991. The Tuff Trax TNT Monster Truck Challenge era. It was really the wildest action for the time. USHRA ran their events more similar to a structed and exhibition based event while TNT really said "boys have at it" and for the time it was really great. Their tracks were the longest of the time durig the spring/summer outside venues. Looking back it was very unsafe but that is what made them the bad boys of monster trucks. Great rivaleries and really the best brodcast team in monster truck history and maybe motorsports period with Army Armstrong and Scott Douglas. On the other side PENDA was doing a great job as well from 1990-1993 with their summer outside veues but from 1994 onward it became a Bigfoot show with Bigfoot having sometimes 4 or more trucks in one event at one time which IMO was major over kill. Another thing i miss is the crative ames of the past which have been replaced with sponsorship names which i personally could do without. It lacks creativity IMO.

Now on to the future of the sport i could talk about the past for days on end but i will end it here. As far as the future i really thik these guys and gals of today have ALOT of major talent also great top of the line equipment. I don't like the circus vibe at all. The sport has a hard enough time trying to be taken seriously as a sport but Feld does not help that in anyway. What monster trucks is to motorsports is what professional wrestling is to cobat athletic sports. Its a show instead of an event. If i could i would love to be involved to help bring new change but that door hasn't opened for me just yet. Everythig is in place the sport just needs a major overhaul on presentation and delivery of the overall product. Also i agree with the last comment from MonsterRig90 i am not i repeat i am not a fan of the DC/Marvel/pop culture takeover. You don't see NASCAR doing that stuff they stick to a structure and monster trucks should to if it is going to be a real sport instead of a spectacle

I do get that circus vibe too. Love the sport to death. Love some of the drivers.

My era would be from 99-2008. After world finals 9, it seemed to change slowly to what it is now. Less destruction and more dirt. Max-D can't be Max-D if it's only dirt. I still enjoy watching the shows today. I wish I could go to more and meet drivers. They do have a lot of talent today. But like others say, they actually need to be invited to the world finals. The 2 day format this year, I didn't like. When I judge a freestyle I judge it by how the truck held up and what the driver could do. If the truck can withstand racing and freestyle in the same night and win both. It said a great deal about the driver and the crew. 2 different nights isn't right for me. The track design was cool yes, but it wasn't for monsters. When I think of a monster truck, I think of crushing cars, busses being demolished with rv's. Not dirt everywhere.

I don't know what good could come of the future.

Worried about an incident that could lose the sport for good.

  11. So it's only been a short time and the advancements have been mind blowing. But things have changed and always will. Love the sport, wish I could be in their shoes, but what's your preference.

    Which era do you prefer?:

    Why?:

What good do you think will happen in the future?:

    Any worries about the future?
