  1. I think the idea that Feld is "ruining Monster Jam" is extreme, even though I agree with a lot of your points. The lack of side acts, the predictable moves, and the rushed shows are definitely gripes I have, but it's not really ruining it for me, or for most of the people who show up. Also I don't know why they would get rid of post-show autographs. The drivers will stick around no matter what.

As far as Monster Jam being rigged is concerned, I don't know how that would be possible. Think about how much luck and how many different factors play into the sport itself. How could they possibly manage every variable as to who is going to win and how they do it? Trucks flip, drivers mess up, and parts break. Biased judging is the only way I can imagine something being "rigged". Not to mention, I imagine most of the drivers wouldn't even want to compete if it was rigged, so either Scott was messing with you, or that story isn't real.

Honestly other than Ryan most of the commentators seem so... wooden and fake.

They had Faruq from ABC Battlebots as a commentator back in 2016, they should've capitalized on that hard. Man knows how to hype a crowd

You're definitely right about the announcers not being able to make themselves sound genuine without sounding ham-fisted. With past announcers, even though they weren't genuinely reacting either, it sounded like they really meant what they said. I watched some arena show on tv last week, and the announcers weren't too bad, but they've still got these quirky young voices which made it feel kinda corny.

  3. Man, that was a really nice instance where the truck nearly crashed but ended up back on its wheels at the end.

Also I'm starting to miss the announcer commentary during freestyle. Didn't really add a whole lot, but it kinda helped pump the crowd up and provide a reaction to what was going on. The lack of it makes me wonder if they got rid of it because it wasn't necessary, or if the commentators they hired don't know much about what the trucks are doing.

Well, if you look a many of the summer shows they had in the US, say Nashville, you could tell ticket sales were going down. If I remember correctly, Nashville only had 3/4 of the stadium filled. And something had to have made them stop, cause they would still be doing it if everything was the ordinary.

Attendance issues have been going on before the strikes even happened though. If you look some of the stadium shows like Glendale 2016 or New Orleans 2017, they had about 2/3 of the stadium filled from what I recall. I remember it being discussed on here. I think the copyright strikes had an adverse effect on the people whose channels were hit and the people who follow the videos, but for the general public, I doubt it had any effect. They're really not in the wrong for doing it, either.

Personally, the overall format and style of the shows is what is alienating me, even if the entertainment itself is great. In a way, Monster Jam has always been a stunt-show, but with backflips, stoppies, corkscrews, etc. becoming more and more common, it gets kind of absurd. Certain nuances go a long way, too.

  5. I miss the driver introductions they used to do, where they would have a spotlight on each driver as they stood on their truck. Makes the drivers seem a little less important and the show a bit more rushed without it. Same goes for side-acts like Democross/FMX/Pro-Arena trucks. These shows are over in no time.

Does anyone know why all the monster jam videos for Low budget tv are gone?

Monster Jam removed almost all of their videos, as well as hundreds of other amateur videos , because they technically own what's being presented in the footage. Therefore they can remove what's being uploaded without their consent.

  7. I mean fans have literally been scoring forever, at least for the most part. I remember watching Motor Madness on TNN, where they literally picked people out of the crowd. As far as I know, they've always done that. Only difference now is that the entire audience gets a number as well. Also, a lot of people keep saying that biased judging is a recent thing that didn't happen in the past, when it has always been a thing. As long as we judge based on opinions and not technicality, there's always gonna be room for bias. Judges don't act as a committee either I don't think, so really they just hold up a number and what happens happens.

These past 5 years, it seems like there's always been controversy at the World Finals over who should have won and who shouldn't, who should have taken the lead and who shouldn't. It's really subjective for the most part, even if there's good arguments to be made. Honestly there's been poor/questionable judging at nearly every show I've been to. That doesn't make it okay, but there's not a lot we can do, even if they hire experts instead of fans.

Looks sick I dont know why some people dont like the new changes

I think it's because trucks like Rage and Wrecking Crew have developed a fanbase, and even though it's still literally the same truck, people like to see the truck as it was meant to be, rather than with a different shell.

  10. It makes total sense that FELD wants more of their own trucks represented at a show, and it wouldn't be the first time they had indies running their bodies either. I remember The Patriot running as El Toro Loco and Donkey Kong, I believe. With that being said, I can't help but feel that it hurts the name recognition for those trucks/drivers, since they're running names/bodies that they wouldn't be running outside of Monster Jam.

Then again, I can't really imagine that 90% of people who go to Monster Jam go to other non-Monster Jam promotions in general, let alone go because said independent truck is there (excluding Team Scream, 2Xtreme Racing, Bigfoot, etc.)

good to hear from all of you again! there were some good memories back in the day. stopped playing this game years ago and tbh stopped checking in a while ago too. what a time it would be if we all had one fun-run using v3/original v4 trucks or somethin.

So many good times were had with you and RKM doing 'fun runs' at your axle breaker track when the box 5 monster trucks first came out.

I almost miss Ryan always flipping a poo when I would ask him something stupid on a daily basis.

Yeah I remember the post-RORMJ event fun runs, where Mike would load up a few of his tracks and we'd all mess around on them for a while, or just the general fun runs and special events like King of the Hill.

I really wish that I had more of a drive to compete back then like I do now, but there's hardly anything going on now. Back then I kinda stopped focusing on leagues after Season 2, and I really should have kept things going. I mean I really wasn't any good back then, but I still play ROR off and on, testing out new tracks and trucks.

  13. Yeah, plenty of my shameful memories from 2009-11, still here. Been recently thinking about where all the originals went, actually. I'm another one who was playing ROR long before the original Grave Digger and Escalade were released, and somehow was allowed into RORMJ.

Only come on for the Silly Season, R/C, and SYP threads these days.

and I actually started making tracks for MTM2 again. That's pretty sad.

and whatever happened to Ash Robertson, or whatever his name was? He made some killer skins back in the day.
