  1. @AaronLurie Tomato, tomato?

Will be up in the scrapyard section later for anyone who wants to use it.  These are in-game screenshots (.37, I'm old school with an old computer) to make sure all the textures worked properly and see what it all looked like out of blender.

There are 3 sky boxes, and two mountain textures to use for a day, sunset, and night time feel.  All are included in the same .blend file.  Just drag over the sky box and mountain texture you want to use and delete or keep the light flare from the stadium lighting.  Scaling might be a tad off so re-adjustment might be necessary  I usually eyeball scale based off the track but didn't make one in this blend.

I would suggest that if you do a track from 2000-2010's that it be from 2001 or 2008 cause (as far as I know) there are no tracks from those years. That are recent at least.

I've always liked Houston 2008 with the table top in the middle, if that wins that may be a contender.

No listed but would be really cool to see this track, this was the September show. They did 2 shows here, one in June and September (I believe someone is making a All-Star track)

That track was awesome but I think theres enough Throwdown tracks.  Other promoters need a little love too

  3. You all get to help me decide what my next project will be!

Since we're all presumably stuck inside, this will help me pass the time and hopefully bring some joy to everyone else doing the same.

Help me decide!  The poll is in no particular order, and voting ends one week from tonight on 3/30 at 11:59 PM EST.

Two can play at that game.

    Yours looks great though.

No need to have two of the same tracks!  I'll finish my model and get it up in the scrapyard for you and anyone else who wants it.  Modeling and texturing is really all I wanted to do.  Getting it in-game is way less fun lol

long time no see sim-monsters, well anyway I'm sorta here still... anyway this is one of my favorite projects to date. i have put lots of time into this track, its a repli-custom 2019 track with the red style layout and green racing, its the best of both worlds. To the track creators on this platform, I have tried something y'all do (maxdman, chrisb etc.) but kinda smoothing everything and making it more "round" with less sharp angles, I've always smoothed the ramps, but this I did everything and I'm really happy with the results so far!

Looks really good so far.  I echo what Chris said.  Export with a basic texture on the entire track and just drive around for a bit hitting all jumps at different speeds and angles and take note of what ramps need adjusting, then make the adjustment in Blender and re-export and repeat until you're 100% happy.

Glad to see some really good stuff on here still.

Does that mean I can retire form content creation?

    Coming very soon.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN A PETER PAN PEANUT BUTTER ALERT!?

Won't download it bc my computer is poo but the stadium model and textures looks top notch, really great job

I havent had it exported or anything yet so no testing has gone into it so you may be right and my eyes could be wrong but I went through just before taking these pics to adjust any insane angles. They SHOULD be fine but again no real tests have been done so I could be wrong. I appreciate the feedback!

To further Klayton's point, don't even waste time baking.  I throw on a stock dirt texture, sometimes a different texture for the ramps versus the ground just so its easier for me to visualize what each jump looks like when I'm testing, then get it in game.  Baking and texturing before you're 100% done modeling testing can cause real headaches.  Just some more info for you as your stuff is improving.

I’m obviously arguing with a brick wall here, and wasting my time trying to convince a crowd that is not merely apathetic, but I think being intentionally obtuse, difficult, dismissive, and rude towards me just because they can be. If you were being charitable and decent, you would humor me just a little bit, and try to imagine the ideas I’m putting forward, and giving them some fair consideration, but instead I’m doing all the heavy lifting here while everyone else just sits back and blows me off like I’m not worth their time. 6 people voted against my idea in the poll, and not one of those voters has contributed one single post to this discussion. This tells me they’re just doing it to be intentionally rude, and I think they know it.

There is such a thing as being charitable, and treating others like they’re somewhat worthy of some your time, and their thoughts are worthy of some consideration. But I see the community here has no common decency really.

These are things I’ve thought a lot about. They are dreams of mine, and I’ve actually got the capital now to possibly launch something like this. Albeit, on a smaller scale to start off with, but it would be a start nonetheless.

Regardless, it just blows my mind to bits that people actually prefer the crap industry as it is today over something like I’m proposing. You really mean to tell me that you’d prefer a model where a traveling circus production company, not a motorsports/racing organization, owns the series, monopolizes most of the trucks, kicks independent teams to the curb, treats the shows like traveling Disney on Ice shows for kids rather than a true racing series, and destroys the integrity and legitimacy of the sport? You would seriously rather have that than a true motorsports series that appeals to both children and adults,  one that is focused on building up independent teams, bringing legitimacy to the sport, growing the fanbase, etc...? You really like the fact that indie teams get paid a lousy booking fee, and can’t get good backing?

@NitroMenace, you mentioned that even though it’s geared towards children, the adults still enjoy being there. Well, that’s not really my point. Well actually, it kind of IS my point. My point is that the industry is aimed at children, which pushes away adults from really getting into it. You guys are making my points for me. If the industry did more to appeal to adults too, the dedicated fanbase would grow, and as a result, the sport would thrive much more. Because it’s monster trucks, you will always have the kids following it. You don’t have to make it like Chucky Cheese’s to rack in the kid fanbase. They’ll be there regardless because it’s monster trucks. It’s the adult crowd (ones with the money in their pockets) that you want to appeal to. You’ve got to give them an incentive to follow the sport, and not feel embarrassed to to do so on their own.

Anyway, I know I’m arguing with a brick wall. You guys will continue to be purposely obtuse, and will intentionally try to not understand what I’m saying.

Not going to lie I didn't even read more than the first two sections of this post because of your attitude.  No one is required to listen to you, give their feedback or agree with your ideas.  We don't owe you anything so don't act like people don't care or are being dismissive as if you have something everyone MUST read, agree with, respond to or care about.  Stop sounding so self-entitled with just ideas, if you're trying to get your ideas into action you won't get farther than a stones throw with your current attitude.  No one has to be nice, and in most businesses people are cut throat in order to make it. Get used to it.

With that being said, I applaud your ideas and efforts to try and bring something new to the industry . I personally don't see it feasible with the way the entire culture towards motorsports is in this country anymore.  It's dying.  The age of gear-heads simply doesn't exist anymore.  If you want to try it, go ahead, literally no one is stopping you, I just don't see it being successful.

After all, we all call this the monster truck INDUSTRY, because that's simply what it is and what I think it always will be, even if you disagree with the reasons why it's an industry.  The way it is now is successful (whether you like or agree with it or not) and until something better comes along theres no reason the people up top will change it.  If you want to be that force to stir change, go for it.

Woah that’s not Gaithersburg 2019 😂 love the colors on that one though

I know I'm late on my annual Gaithersburg track lol.  I have some free time in the next two weeks with some sights set on a few to complete, that is one of them.

  10. I've always wanted to stream or make episodes of how I make a track start to finish to give the community another tutorial and hopefully inspire others.  Time and hardware limitations always prevented me.  I've recently switches systems so I've been wanting to go back to my old computer with literally everything RoR related and clean it out to make it more possible to screen record while in Blender/stream content creation.

I do agree that there has been a significant decrease of content put out and overall activity on the site.  Could blame other social media to get information on the industry, or just a large portion of the fan base growing older and moving on/not having time to create and post.  I 100% fall into that group, but still enjoy creating and pumping things out, I just simply don't have the time like I used to.

Okay I fixed some things and am happy with how the track now looks. Behold!
New mini bus (it will be non collidable on the track but with a fitted invisible box)

In your second level of crowd textures take every other row, or random rows and move the unwrap left or right on the .png of the crowd.  That way it doesn't look like there are 10 people wearing a black shirt in the same seat in each row, 20 people wearing a blue shirt in the same seat in each row, etc.

Also consider using darker crowd textures as the levels go up.  In St. Louis 2019 and Mancheter 2019 I used three different crowd textures so that it appeared that the crowd got darker as less light was getting to the upper sections.

Also for your turn tires, consider using the multiply layer feature to still allow some of the tread texture to show through so it doesn't look like a solid color.  Just my two cents.   Super detailed track otherwise, great job.

Funny story, when I was making World Finals 18, the thought came to me "should I make a whole track with 3D fans?" I thought of course not, that would be impossible. But here I am now, making my last track before I go to college, with yes, 100% 3D fans.

I hope those are empty seats inside of the safety holds because I'm launching directly into the first 10 rows of seats.

  13. Yes I'm a dinosaur and still use 0.37.1...  Yes I know, it's bad.  Looking to finally upgrade but can't seem to find a link to 0.4.6 or a current 0.4 stable version that we all know works with our terrains.  Please shove me in the right direction so I can get out of the past

Ayyy, I remember your name too! The avatar looks familiar as well, MadRat made mine too! I had the green ghost GD one, lol.

Thanks man, been around for a little bit now but never got around to making one of these, lol. You still collecting?

I remember that avi!  I'm not collecting but still have majority of the custom 1:64th scales I made back in the day. I aught to do something with those before they get throw out.  My hobby transitioned from custom 1:64 trucks and tracks to making things in blender on here.  Saves me a ton of physical space but not so much on my computer lol
