  1. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. i was running those very trucks on that very track last night too
  2. San antonio 2011 (?) for ROR for real life, i'd have to go with anaheim '09, neat racing, brilliant freestyle layout
  3. It wasn't that good. just sort of fun to fart about on in the S10 trying not to wreck it. I'll just record a video of it, but it's really not that good
  4. >going through downloads folder from days of yore >last modified list from 2010 I don't know either. All i remember is that it was made by some estranged scandinavian bloke with english like a dyslexic broken record. Always making really loveing strange poo like landmaster tanks on patricks or lawnmowers with a top speed of 200 kph. And the strangest of all was that goddamned triceratops thing. Anyway, then there's this, me and ethan's first mega project there was only one track that was drivable from top to bottom, and it was pretty fun actually, took about two to five minutes to get to the bottom. We had this entire set designed, and we wanted it to be essentially But obviously we didn't have the talent back then. We had the entire mountain 'designed' as well. With the entire mountain being named "Escarin", with run names like "Fractation" or "Number 7". And each would've catered to different driving challenges. like Fractation would've been all ice, and more a 'backcountry' run on a glaciar. with high banked icy turns and massive jumps over valleys. that sort of thing. or Escarin being about technical throttle control over kicker ramps, with big pow landings and such. Mabye we'll pick it up in BeamNG one day
  5. Well alright, i'm sorry to be so high and mighty, and the westbrougough bit wasn't comparing cultures, it was comparing psycological patterns, and i figured it'd be the only good waypoint that everyone would know of, since most folks don't read up on doctorate thesis's about sociology. All in all, i'm just trying to help, because i see a great thing tarnished here, and that's all i oughta say apparently. And the member title was just a joke me and ethan had one night while working on conceptual stuff for a few projects of mine, jus' sayin'
  6. if i could, i'd just like to close by saying that eric, instead of actually reading my post for content, you appear to have just read it for the sake of finding an argument against me, which is kind of proving my 'cult of stagnation' point. And really, i'm not trying to talk down to anyone, i'm really not. I just want to help, and really, i'm offering tutorials and help from the point of a soon to be professional modeller. And i'm not entirely sure why people are telling me off for it. I see potential here. i see the space for a truely fantastic community filled with great ideas and fantastic creations, but as it is, it's not going to happen unless there's a big change.
  7. It's a CRD with bigfoot scrawled on the side. Not much to really say about it really
  8. The mapping on that is all just project from view, which means the paint is distorted, the AO bake is confused and the UV seams are really obvious. Plus the curve transitions between the hood/sides looks really flat, the actual things was just an amass of round shapes coming together. The base colour scheme appears to be wrong as well, most of the colours on the original was an assortment of oranges and yellows, with a lot of brushfades which transitioned really well, and there wasn't any red in the base coat at all, just rather dark orange. And you appear to have missed the 'secondary' 3d flames that ride under the ones that're already there. Also you've forgotten to shade the flames at 4:50 you can see that the flames on the hood have airbrushed undershading for defintion. and i'm not sure what's going on with those rooflights, but the're rather disproportionate and have no detail at all
  9. Me and crazy had it sort of made since the RORMJ days. empisis on sort of. That's the only picture i have of it, but it is 'functional' as it were. fully textured and all that
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCIyAyWaeBc In all actualities, those models actually look rather rough. And most of the texture weight seems to be done by the graphics engine in POD. I'm actually rather let down
  11. Does that mean, at long last, we finally get next gen jurrasic attack? in my mind it does Also if you ever need help "assembling" the bodies, i'd be glad to help, since i know that big tangled ball of vert hell can be tricky to unravel
  12. i could get it working beautifully on a 512 texture. fire me an IM and i'll sort it come to think, i should get to work on that skybox. Needs a noshade command in the material, mabye play with the obj traits so it's bloody massive from the get go
  13. Good thing i made it two years ago and now know better and outlawed, yeah alright, that's just my two cents on the matter. Also tom, since there's no "paint" on wildwood, tesselate the UV mapping so you can get better resolution on the track surface. if you need help i'm always online
  14. Englandlanddeshiretown folk are looking at me angrily right now . Thing is i just can't put stuff ingame anymore, the actual placing bit needs a proper UI. Come to think, these were the last thing i actually put ingame. But honestly speaking, justifying things away as "because we do this in our spare time" and other such things is inducing a culture of stagnation, where lackluster things can be justified away by a veneer of "not mine fault" now yeah i know a lot of people are busy and yadda yadda. but honestly, if you managed to put together a truck pack with 200 trucks in it, each with an individual ammasing of easily more then 60 props, i think we can say that that's no excuse to not at least try to expand one's skills. Why wouldn't you want to study the idealogy and figure out what works and what doesn't? Why would you ever want to stop and "that'll do"? Refusing to evolve and study one's own work habits and bringing it forward is downright arrogant and lazy, there's simply no contention. Refusal to heighten one's art is practically a sin. And as long as ones "dedicated" to modelling, painting or in fact, doing just about anything, why on earth wouldn't you want to be better? There's unquantifiable rules and ideas to realize through practice, and there's practically innumerable perfectly obvious quantifiable ideas, rules and patterns that you can notice or read up on for pretty much everything. In modelling for example, theoretically, every edge loop should be a perfectly orthogonally pleasing line. With each vert being within '35 degrees of the one before (unless you want to draw out a defined edge for contrast or to bevel leading lines, in which case, edge split) and with each edge loop flowing into the next in a tessellating pattern of pleasing lines. In mapping, you want to "stretch" a 3d space onto a 2d plane, which you can do in a multitude of ways, with each method being contextually fitting to specific circumstance on models. Project from view is a sin. Painting, drawing and every kind of texturing takes specific vision and direction towards what you want to make. Accentuating details in order to make whatever mesh, of whatever quality, instantly recognizable no matter what the actual quality of the mesh is. And in more stylized/gameplay orentated games, the astetic and the actual colour scheme/design of each model and texture have to origin and direct your eyes to certain parts of the game world or model to serve gameplay points. A good example is TF, where on each player model, all the colour is up on the torso/head, with the lower half of the body a motley assortment of dull browns and greys. /end surprise megapost
  15. I did :3 Well that's not strictly true. The edge loops and face generation in this are truely wretched. plus i drew it off of concept art instead of actual photos like a boss, so it's inaccurate as richard nixxon's election campaign. And the headlight idea didn't work too well. And the edging on the rear cutouts went the wrong way. And the map was generally crap. And the grille was all kinds of wrong. And the headlight enclosures are completly horrible in every way. And the curve relations on the hood were all kinds of wrong... oh well
  16. I didn't bin it! sort of. either way it was a thoroughly mediocre night for me. so whoo hoo
  17. They actually handle better then current mesh tracks minus the flat sides. Mike knew what he was doing
  18. I was sort of hoping for "YOU'RE BECOMING MORE LIKE YOUR FATHER FOX"
  19. Oh ok, i just remember scott douglass saying it was a new truck at pheonix 2007, guess i assumed it was a new frame either way though, no way in hell has ever truck run deliberately without rear wheel drive. that's just looney.
  20. Uh no? Cyborg never had front wheel drive, tough E nough was a new frame that actually worked
  21. 43:30 in the first video christ almighty, that puts adam at tampa this year to shame. Stupifyingly strong
