  1. *NOTICE TO ALL COMPETITORS*

I found some issues with some of the trucks where 4 of them were geared differently from the rest, this resulted in said trucks being at minimum 2 mph faster than the rest. Due to this, I redid the gearing on those 4 trucks to match the others so that they're even across the board. Below is a link to a zip with the 4 corrected truck files, please download them and put them in the respective zips.

  2. "It's been many a dawn and sunset since the king was subjugated from his throne, but now the once great ruler has emerged from the shadows to reclaim his former glory."

Oh yes folks, you read that correctly. After 3 long years King Of The Hill is back with a vengeance, and to kick off "The Reclamation" we're headed back to one of the more iconic locations in the history of series: the infamous Nashville Superspeedway!

10 of the best trucks in the sport have descended upon the 1.3 mile concrete behemoth to write yet another chapter in the storied history of these mammoth machines within this facility. Many of you may remember the wild crossover course that was run here way back when, a course that pushed drivers to their limits and gave us some of the most amazing races we've ever seen. Well, we remember it rather fondly and figured there was no better course to use here, but obviously we had to take it to another level. This has all the makings of being one of the wildest KOTH events ever held, and we sincerely hope it is. Now with all of that outta the way, lets get down to the details that you'll need to know about.

Signups will open Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 at 8pm eastern.
Event will take place Saturday, June 29th, 2019; driver's meeting will begin at 6:30pm eastern.

Here is the template to use for your signup:
    Name:
    Discord Username:

We will be using the Sim Monsters Special Events server for this event: https://discord.gg/hUrcFZn
We will be using RoR version 0.4.6 for this event: http://www.mediafire.com/file/642rm1r9a31o94b/Rigs-of-Rods-0.4.6.exe/file
    Here's a link to the track: http://sim-monsters.com/files/file/2599-★★★-smra-nashville-superspeedway-2017-★★★/

Now you may notice in that template that there's nothing about listing a truck. Well that's because, unlike previous KOTH events, you won't be picking out a truck when posting your sign up. This time around you will only be claiming a spot in the show, reason being is because your truck will be given to you by random draw at the conclusion of the drivers meeting. Also remember that signups are first come first serve, so if you wanna compete you better be ready cause historically these events fill up fast. After the 10 spots are claimed, all other sign ups will be looked at as alternates in the event one of the original 10 can't make it. Also, please note that all competitors must be in the voice chat by 6:30pm eastern sharp, if you're not you will be replaced by an alternate; no exceptions.

Below are links to the trucks that will be used, and the names of the exact truck files will also be listed; said listed truck files are the ones that MUST be used, no exceptions. I went through and fixed issues on the trucks to make sure they're even and working in .4, so please download them and make sure they overwrite the previous version you might have. Modifications to the trucks in any form
ARE NOT allowed, and if we suspect that you have altered the truck you're running in any way you will be disqualified from the event and suspended from running in KOTH events for the rest of the year.

Full details on how everything will go including the event format and rules for each competition will be explained during the driver's meeting.

Now without further ado, here is the full list of trucks. And remember, the names you see listed below are the exact names of the trucks in game that must be used:

I am so excited to be able to bring one of the most legendary competitions ever held on this site back for a new generation of racers to enjoy, and to also possibly take some of the old guard on a trip down memory lane. I can't wait to see how the story will unfold in the latest chapter of this storied series, and to see who will etch their name into the history books.

10 Drivers. 1 Crown. Who will rise up and claim it? Only time will tell...

  3. Now that's a last name I haven't seen in a while. I remember your dad very well, used to race and chat with him quite a bit. Matter of fact, him and his brother were some of the first people I ever raced with when I got into this dealio. Hope all is well with him cause I haven't heard from him in ages, but yes a fair number of us still play though some do on a limited basis.

    just a concern,

Is there any concern that current members who use Discord will migrate to the channels to post projects/topics/etc. and take the attention away from the actual site?

Not really, especially since stuff will get buried so far back on the channels in Discord that it would be next to impossible to find. We made it simply as a way for the community to actually be able to talk to each other rather than just constant typing in pm's and in threads.

  5. So this is something that we probably should've done ages ago, but better late than never. Below you will see an invite link to the official Discord server for Sim Monsters, and it has all sorts of text and voice channels for various types of games and activities. This server can also be used to host leagues, fun runs, and special events in if you so choose.

Fair warning to all members who join it though, all of the rules we have here on the site carry over to the Discord server; and all of the mods on here are mods in there as well.

Bans from the server will be made in a case by case basis, and if serious enough will carry over to the site as well.

You may also notice a new little widget on the right side of the front page, that is a new Discord integration dealio that the site owner @liquidfire215 ever so graciously paid for to make finding the server even easier. You can see who's in each voice chat and join the server through it (as some of you already have), the catch with it is that you must be signed in to an active account to see it; a feature that will hopefully help keep some of the spam bots out.

If you have any questions or need to report something going on in the server that breaks the rules, please pm one of us either on here or in Discord itself and we'll deal with whatever the issue may be as soon as possible.

Myself, @RKM, and @DannyMackey spent a lot of time setting it up and we hope you enjoy it, but use of the server (just like membership to this site) is a privilege and you can lose said privilege if you can't act like decent person.

By the way, all the original links no longer work, at least for me.

Yeah I'll be fixing that problem, I saved everything Edy had on his google drive to my own and I'll get the links updated as soon as possible. Meant to do it sooner but I got backed up with paint work, so all of you looking for logos just bear with me cause they're probably in those files I saved.

  8. Finally got something worth showing off on here, did this for a good friend of mine who will be coming out of a semi retirement (he stopped racing back in 2014) to run in SMRA this year. Now it's off to @Steele for him to work his magic, but there's no rest for the weary as I've got more in the pipeline.

To put it in the simplest terms, I'm using this truck to learn the basics of blender. I pieced together the chassis myself by splicing different parts from 4 separate chassis (Dirt Crew, Enforcer, Sniper, and Thunder Chicken) and then added my own custom touches from front to back, the rest of what you see are various parts and pieces that I've collected over the years. It's far from done but I'm damn proud of what I've done so far, though it'll probably be awhile before these trucks (and there will be 4 identities spawning from this one project btw) see the light of day due to other projects stacking up that I need to finish. Rest assured though that they will be finished and this is just the beginning of a grand plan I've been formulating for some time now.

  10. To my knowledge one of the reasons we haven't tried moving to 4.7 was the fact that the way online servers work is completely different from what we have now; it's pretty much just a learning curve thing for the most part I would imagine. But when you get down to it I think it's more along the lines of the fact that we've got most stuff figured out for 4.6 and it's pretty stable for the most part, I'm personally not against moving to a newer version but I don't necessarily see the need atm unless it's just incredibly superior to what we're using now.

But yeah 4.6 is pretty much the version all of the leagues are running, there are some people who are still using .37 but there's honestly no reason to as 4.6 fixes so many issues that plagued .37 for pretty much the entire time we used it. There's also been talk of mandating that all content be made for 4.6 and getting rid of the .37 part of the site, but we've yet to make any decision on that yet.

TL;DR: 4.6 is the way to go, don't bother with .37.
