  1. Didn't Anderson's Digger also break in Detroit in 06?
  2. Heres a vid of the Silverdome before implosion. The first attempt was a fail
  3. Got back into listening to Thousand Foot Krutch, forgot how powerful and energetic their music is. I’d definitely reccommend it if you’re looking for energetic rock with a little occasional rapping
  4. Pontiac Silverdome will finally be imploded on December 3rd. Sorry if this was posted in a different thread; I visit this site less than I used to. https://t.co/yy5e3MUXfn Pretty cool that most people are acknowledging how the Silverdome held monster tuck events in its final years.
  5. Also understand that FELD most likely didn't want to make a real expensive 3D body for three shows, and a totally black SUV with the Punisher slapped on the side of it is the cheapest option. Maybe just a coincidence.
  6. Man that's sad. I feel like the monster truck community has lost more guys in the last three years than before, and this one seriously hurts to read.
  7. I found an article that says it's good through 2018. http://www.tirebusiness.com/article/20140311/NEWS/140319976/bkt-hooks-up-with-monster-jam Dont get your hopes up, they'll probably make a new contract, BKT is getting loads of exposure from Monster Jam
  8. I love these trucks/paints I've been seeing around here. Keep up the great works guys! I can't remember SYP being this active for a long time
  9. I had a thought: what if Hot Wheels keeps making trucks, just not ones that run with MJ, or ones that aren't licensed with MJ? Like Bigfoot, Ballistic, etc. MJ doesn't owns the molds HW uses. Or what if Hot Wheels signs a contract with Monster Nationals or Throwdown? That'd be pretty sweet.
  10. I'm gonna rant so long post incoming I'm actually surprised people didn't see this coming, Mattel's agreement had expired in 2012 and MJ extended it until 2018, so there was some warning to this possibly happening. Yet I'm also surprised MJ is just dumping Hot Wheels. I mean seriously, those guys have done some impressive stuff in the last two years. And this was obviously just a move for more money. Heres what sucks about this, if all the collectors who've been loyal fans and have been giving MJ/Hot Wheels our money for 17 years didn't buy the new toys, MJ wouldn't care, they'd have a new generation of kids growing up to buy the new toys for ten years until they do the same to them to gain revenue. I do wonder how short Mattel's leash has been and for how long. I mean the 2015 line wasn't great, the 2016 line was great and the 2017 line was even better. Unless Mattel dropped MJ, which wouldn't make sense because the die casts have been a money maker. The only way they've lost money is probably with all the extra toys. The other way this might of happened was MJ selling the rights to the highest bidder, with Mattel finding the bid not worth it and Spin Masters finding a license worth it as they know it'll cash in, however, I wonder if they've anticipated all of the HW fans to resist it this much. Maybe, just maybe Bigfoot will get an agreement with Hot Wheels. And maybe they'd keep the same molds so that they become compatible with the ones sold from 2000-2017. They did it with Traxxas. That would really stir up Felds pot. Do it Bob, you've got nothing to lose. People will buy Bigfoot toys if they stay consistent with what Mattels been selling us. Honestly though these Instagrammers are taking this wayyyy to far. They've renamed their accounts to things like f*** Feld and are just going off, somehow finding a way to scream through the keyboard. They're worried that Scott will be fired (which won't happen, he's one of MJ's best drivers, and if he goes, then there is some serious internal issues at MJ). Some people are selling off their collections (which you shouldn't, just because they won't be made doesn't mean they aren't worth still keeping). And I'd never buy new toys, I'm not trying to be stubborn, but I've collected these because they're Hot Wheels. And I've been collecting for as long as I can remember. And for the sake of consisitency, but I'm sure these new toys would never be the same as Hot Wheels. And shoot, I've just realized something. MJ has gotten a lot of free publicity with all of these collectors and you tubers showing off their collections, which brings in more customers. With all of these public collectors (especially the ones who do the "sign up series") saying they won't buy new ones, MJ loses that publicity and their new toy line won't have much momentum. Until this new generation that they're banking on gets old enough to begin promoting the toys themselves (which will be 10 years, conveniently the same time the new license runs for) there won't be much of anything for these new toys except for the little kids, and MJ will have to begin promoting their toys themselves full time, as all the previous HW collectors won't buy the new ones and the kids buying them won't have youtubes/social media. At least this whole situation doubles my collection value.
  11. That track looks awesome. I'd recommend looking around for 2005-2007 banners for that track, I feel like they'd fit it best. I'd also recommend re-texturing some of the ramps, the dirt texture is coming off as 'skewed' on some of the ramps. Otherwise looks pretty good!
  12. That and the truck has all the sponsors that Morey runs (Bubba Burger and UNOH)
  13. I think that if you could find a way to add red LED lights (I think it's just glow - there's a few other tucks on the site that have it) underneath the truck similar to escalade or Crusader and some red glow to the eyes, it would look pretty sweet. Just a suggestion. It looks wicked too, great work.
  14. I'll admit that Bryce has been better since the World Finals, but maybe it's that he's better in stadiums over arenas.
  15. Can we please rename this thread to "show your repitive meme that only people from sim monsters would understand"
  16. The unfortunate part about Bigfoot drivers is that they can perform at the same level of Dennis Anderson but they don't get the same exposure.
  17. I see your point but monster trucks have been in Canada for decades. Monster Jam has been going to Toronto since the late 90s and I think USA Motorsports did events in Vancouver for a while in the early-mid 90s, not to mention Canadian drivers like Don Frankish, Linsey Weenk, and Nathan Weenk. But I'd agree in saying that McQueen is a huge Canadian influence for monster trucks.
  18. Who are the top 10 most influential drivers, announcers, mechanics, whatever? Here's my list: 1) Bob Chandler - Built the first monster truck and continues to evolve the monster truck. 2) Dennis Anderson - Made the most successful monster truck, easily has the biggest fan base, and has numerous championships, awards, etc. 3) Dan Runte - Easily the best man to ever drive a monster truck, only thing putting him behind Dennis is that Dennis made his own brand. Runte has won numerous championships, awards, and holds many records. 4) Tom Meents - Has pushed monster trucks to the limit and continues to push the limit. Holds more World Championships than any other driver. 5) Dan Patrick - Not the best driver, but his PEI chassis is still being used and he has easily influenced chassis design. PEI chassis have won World Finals Championships and have easily stood the test of time. 6) Army Armstrong - Easily the most iconic voice from the 80s/90s and the Monster Truck Madness Games. 7) Scott Douglas - Monster truck TV commentator since the late 80s, commented Monster Jam episodes from 1997 to 2016. I'm sure many of us grew up listening to his voice. 8) Jack Willman - Was a dominate driver and monster truck pioneer in the 80s/early 90s and many trucks today run a Willman chassis. 9) Gary Porter - Created the Carolina Crusher, dominate driver from the late 80s to 2017. While he doesn't have any World Championships, he is always a top contender and has been very consistent, plus he is a Hall of Fame Inductee. 10) Jim Koehler - His trucks are the toughest and he pushes them harder than anyone else. Easily the second-best independent team next to Bigfoot. I was debating putting Paul Cohen here but went with Koehler, as Koehler is more successful in terms of racing and developing a pretty top-notch team with a smaller budget than Feld. Honorable Mention: Madusa - Most successful female to drive monster trucks, Charlie Pauken - Has piloted a couple different trucks and can always win, Andy Brass - One of Bigfoot's most successful racers, multiple championships, Paul Cohen - Piloted a couple different trucks and has been to a few World Finals, although his Cohen chassis has been used by Feld and independents alike. Paul Shafer - Love him or hate him, his team was dominate throughout the mid-late 90s and his trucks have won big in the early years of MJ. Plus his team is still operating, although considerably less, today. Fed Shafer - Made the Bear Foot name and dominated in the 90s. Although he sold Bear Foot, the truck is still racing today and has lasted since the 80s. This list was pretty tough to make, there's more guys obviously such as Pezo and Creten, but I was going for which drivers would leave the biggest legacies in monster truck racing.
  19. That looks pretty good! Couple things though, your corner window isn't quite right: The small piece that separates the window into two pieces is slanted at the same angle as the windshield. I'd also try to round out the front a little bit, it looks a bit too square compared to the truck. Another thing is that the top of the dump bed is a bit longer towards the bed than you have it. I don't mean to sound critical, just trying to point out some helpers. It's looking really good so far! Can't wait to see it finished and wait else you make in the future!
  20. And when you think about it, this isn't really a bad thing. Let's say Dennis hadn't competed at WF1 - through about 13, there would have been an outrage but the talent has all around grown. Did not having Meents/Anderson at this World Finals make the show not worth it? Of course not (although with Meents competing the way he has been this summer there isn't a reason why he shouldn't be back next year unless he gets injured again). And if Dennis doesn't want to compete anymore, that's fine and makes total sense. I feel like we're starting to see a bulk of the "first generation" guys leave who have made it this far. Runte, Dennis, Porter, Dan Patrick. Nothing against those guys, I bet it hurts them more that they aren't able to give fans the same entertainment they were 2-3 years ago but your body can only take so much (especcially the guys who spent 5-6 years driving leafers). And hold on is Randy Moore driving in Bristol? He's at their media day with a race suit.
  21. Interesting, I wonder if this will push Feld to do the same (not just stream preshow live but the whole event.)
  22. Here's a little idea I'm kind of bringing back, it's not my idea but it's an abandoned one so here it is. I was looking around the RoR forums to see if there were people who did trucking roleplay, like driving semis and hauling loads. I couldn't find one, so I decided I'd see who'd be interested in it here. For those of you who don't know or haven't really seen RoR outside of what we do, basically the idea is roleplay in RoR. Essentially, it's like what we do with leagues but instead of monster trucks it is tow trucks, semi trucks, fire trucks, etc. I haven't really seen anything on the new RoR forums that does this stuff, and although there is a massive RoR school bus subculture on Youtube that does roleplay, for reasons I don't want to explain they kind of stay to themselves and the forum users from the RoR site don't really get into the school bus thing. Either way, I've seen this thing get started up on RoR only to fail, I've seen this thing start up on Sim Monsters only to never really get legitimized, and I was wondering if anyone from here would be interested in this kind of thing. It could even be having recovery vehicles like tow trucks or loaders in our monster truck leagues (I know this would add a ton of time to our events, but with the new updates, things like this are becoming possible). Or drag racing. Doesn't really matter but I am interested in seeing what we could do since the only RoR roleplaying you can do now is buses or monster trucks, and there are ways to add more to the experience. If you have an idea for this, please post below. I'm not sure on what it will exactly be, but there's tons of possibilities.
