  1. Hey all!  Tentative date for the event is January 3rd, 2020 @ 6:00pm EST

Wanted to run an event this weekend to test my server and to test .4.8 events. (Again)

I'm only going to be running Qualifying, Racing, and Freestyle because I think Two Wheel Skill is incredibly boring (whoops).

I want to keep it chill and fun for everyone, nothing serious here but lets run it smooth yeah?

I'll be keeping track of points for an overall winner, all points awarded will be based off of the amount of competitors present I.E. 12 people = 12 points for 1st place, 11 for 2nd.... etc.

Freestyle points are based off of score in the event. 23 = 23 points.

Points will be awarded for all 3 parts of the show. Qualifying, Racing, and Freestyle.

Overall winner gets a thumbs up and a pat on the back, followed by a really disingenuous ""hooray" from the rest of the competitors. (Can you tell I copy pasted this from my last one yet?)

My simple rules are as follows:

    1. Any truck you would like to compete in must be on the Sim-Monster.com downloads section and .4 compatible. (Standalone trucks)

    2. Be ready to compete at all times, when I call you in, get in game. I wont be using a timer, if you don't log into the server within a minute or so without prior warning, I will move on without you.

    3. Keep things somewhat realistic. No crazy moves.

    4. My calls are final, if you don't like it? Leave.

    5. Be respectful to all competitors.

    Track: St. Louis 2019

Qualifying will start at 6:00 PM EST

Racing will start promptly at 7:00 PM EST

I'll keep track of everything using a google docs link provided in the event Discord.

Event Discord will be provided when I decide to create it, it will be deleted after the event is over.

  2. So the event has drawn to a close, the event went extremely well, unfortunately we only had 7 people in total make the event but we did what we could to make it as fun as possible.

It started in qualifying with @Torque Easy taking the top qualifier spot, and @Andrew coming in a close second with the same exact time! Since @Torque Easy ran first he took the 1st place.

In racing we had a big upset in round one with @fernBurn being taken out by @CleverMeentsPun. In the end though @Torque Easy was just too consistent taking it all the way to the finals against @Andrew. In the finals @Torque Easy would be able to uphold his #1 qualifier position and win with a wild finish we are soon not to forget!

In freestyle we had some very consistent runs all night, @DJKBarn starting things off right with a solid run, @CleverMeentsPun again proved to be a highlight of the show with a pretty good freestyle for a new comer, I look forward to seeing what else he can bring to the table on bigger tracks. @fernBurn came out swinging in the new Bad Habit and threw down an amazing freestyle solidifying the early lead with a 28, @rockgod88 gave the fans the show they expected and he flipped in 5 seconds... GG #7. Next to take a huge step would be @Andrew once again, having an amazing freestyle on such a small course, with wild cross threads and an amazing save at the last second to take the lead from @fernBurn by just 1 point. Leaving one man one point to get the overall win. @Torque Easy came out swinging but was caught off guard by a cross thread and ended up dumping the truck too early to get a high enough score to win, or even keep his overall from the consistent @Andrew. In the end @Andrew took the overall win by 3 points ahead of @Torque Easy.

This was an amazing time, and I think it went extremely smooth, it took under an hour to run the whole event, so thank you to all competitors for moving quickly and truly putting on an entertaining event! I look forward to running more of these events in the future! Stay tuned ;)

  4. So time for a double post here but I feel like this is a pretty big deal. I've heard from around the community some resentment towards newer versions of blender. Heard things about how you cant export tracks and some other silly misinformation so, I decided to look into this, I'm sure a few guys remember me working on this and figuring things out, but I'd like to think this is my proof of concept, using Blender 2.79b (not newest anymore but darn close) and all newer resources from the rigs repository for exporting so its easy to access for everyone without giving out spoopy mediafire links with old software. I have a track built and put in game. Working, sans some issues with ramp angle and such (being a first track I expected as much for future fine tuning) but I'm extremely happy with the results and I can't wait to tackle more projects in the future. Please leave me some feedback on what I can do better in the future, not sure if this will get released, may just throw it into a stadium model and get it out for people to mess with. But for now, this is the "more to come soon" post. Looking into the idea of doing some very in depth tutorials for newer creators, but thats still tbd. Not sure if its really that big of a deal, but I figured I'd share regardless since I know we've certainly had a drop off in content creation.

  5. So this is something that I made a while ago and never got the chance to officially upload to the site, you've seen it on a few of my creations along with a few other creators trucks. I'd really like for the community to start using this template design for their mini files on their trucks, it was built to create a very consistent theme from all creators using it, thus, making our site look more professional as a whole. Feel free to download this .PSD template and add your own photos and logos. If you don't use Photoshop, download the .psd plugin for paint.net. The only downside to using that is you wont be able to directly edit the glow coming off of the edges of the boxes. Other than that, everything else is still completely editable. If you have any questions about how to use this template or need help putting the mini's in game, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll be glad to help.

Template for PDN that has Outer Glow and Stroke pre applied: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vYXIllEFiVqTuTlHzESKXfLdf2dyAkYK/view?usp=sharing

Here is what the template will look like once opened up

Got a new track done, more to come.

I like the idea of the work your doing, but I think you need to take more time to work on your modeling skills, watch the series on how to make tracks to help smooth out your ramps. The texturing isn't bad, but modeling needs a lot of refinement. Study photos of the actual tracks and look at how they "slope" work to mimic those designs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You got me there Wil, forgot when someone signs my paycheck that I cant form my own opinions.

Silly me, how could I forget we humans can have opinions. Anyways as the competition manager (at least as your bio says.) and please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only using google as a source for a job description here, in a basic sense, you help create and run the events? So it would behoove you to up-sell the idea and dispel the rumors? Especially in a public forum such as SM. Regardless of your actual opinion, because I don't care one bit about it. Anything you say here will be directly linked to the company you represent, so I shouldn't reasonably assume that anything you say here has corporate biased built into it even if it is a minute amount? Also, just for future reference, two L's in the name next time you want to type it out, looks kinda funky with one L.

It's not cutting show times.. shows will still be 2 to 2.5 hours. It's hilarious how many people nice lady and moan that the sport needs to evolve and when Feld does something they scream NOT LIKE THAT! I guarantee you if it was Monster Throwdown, MLMT, or All Star Monster Trucks doing this people would be praising them.

This whole thing isn't dangerous, trucks are still on the RII and if someone rolls or spins out and causes another truck to stop they will not be screwed out of a possible win. This isn't something they thought of last night, threw a quick render together of and posted on social media.

Sounds pretty biased as someone who gets paychecks from Feld but that's none of my business.
