  1. most ROR vehicles (Lookin' at you V3) Understeer like the hindinburg in a hurricane, but that's mostly due to batpoo insane grip settings/Really weird default terrain "types" and choices in maps, which somehow results in "concrete" handling like passive agressive superglue

There should really be some kind of UI for placing props, because the current way is a bloody nightmare, and frankly, a method of placing props that involves castrating yourself with a crowbar for every prop would honestly be an improvment. and i say that honestly and truly, hand on my heart and foot on the good lord's cross itself

Their final points total is taken by averaging out their best 50% of their finishes. Ex.) Randy Brown runs 28 events in a season, the average of his 14 best events counts as his points total. WORLD FINALS TRUCK LINEUP -Top 16 drivers are eligible -IF two or more drivers in the top 16 are driving the same truck, the truck goes to the driver highest in the points standings. The remaining drivers are then taken out of the top 16, and the next eligible truck/driver combo is brought into the top 16. Ex.) Neil Elliott is #1, Meents is #2, Hartsock is #16, and Charles Benns is #17. Meents WOULD NOT make the world finals, Hartsock would move up to 15th, and Benns would now be eligible for the WF. And don't tell me that a points series is impossible

  8. It's funny to have heard ash painting this thing over skype, and now everyone's making a big fuss about it. instant +10 amazing points for the tortured children over the windows. pure class.

You could have a mean race layout on there if you put racing ramps on the flat sides of the middle thing. something like fall madness. start on the left side closest to the camera, hook a right around the obsticles, come back and hit the far corner, hang a left around the obsticle, finish where you started, the other guy doing the same, just opposite you, starting/finishing the other way. throw in a few rollers/berms and that could be a lot of fun. And if the obsticles aren't exactly equal, just throw down a few turning cars using X/Y mirrors at the same time. Just keep the object's global data at 0/0/0 and bring in some crush cars. Modifier menu and Shift D is your friend.

  11. the tire jammer things on the right will not work. that's just going to send you straight up or backwards, scale it along Y, that should fix it. Ditto for the backside of most of those ramps. they're practically walls

Yeah i'm redoing the series end to end, which'll cover everything in detail. i don't want to release them sparrodically because i'm lazy and making all the graphics takes time. and people will inevitibly complain that their blood miridian of monster trucks can't be finished until i explain the vast mysteries of UV mapping also you may want to extend the bulge in the rear fenders to "balance" the fender's sight weights a bit

They're supposed to be like the stereotypical rear wheels on a late ninteenth century traction engine Obviously i had to keep them looking like regular tires. i've since updated and i'm painting them right now. Since rubber at the turn of the century wasn't strong enough to support sidewalls, the tires will have a worn, dry and cracked "solid" rubber tread, with brazen leather sidewalls, seperated by a thin brass strip to keep it all together. it's already looking gorgeous

  15. current facecount is 50k quads if i duplicate the diffs. The gamecube had an upward face limit of 1.5 million and the average scencount on a typical online jam with 4 sm trucks is about 500k. i am not concerned. Not to mention i just discovered that LOD's are really easy to do. and i'll be replacing any non essential models at a distance with a blank prop. So say, the inner axle props on the diff would disappear at a distance when you can't see them without really trying and mashing the reduce FOV key. or the steering wheel would be replaced with a really thin sillouette of a wheel, the steering box would disappear, the inevitibly vert heavy footrest would disappear, the throttle lever would disappear and so on. this should actually be less processer heavy then V3 which, in all honesty, is ironically horribly unoptimised

Modelling is now 95% done. all that's left to do is a bunch of steam pipes with kill valves in the roosterpit and a footboard styled after a floral piano carving on my grandparents piano. random valves and guages scattered across the entire truck, the guages ("steam pressure" that's just a jittering random guage. Spedo and "RPM" for the steam powered engine.) and a few things like an altimetre to the left (styled after WWII Fighters) and a few non functioning boiler water level guages, styled after the classic british rail barber shop stripey malarky. also the slots on the hand throttle will read as follows (one for each divot) 1. Jimmeth Jack 2. Cowardly Knave 3. Cruising 4. 1/2 5. Fair Clip 6. Hae Forward (Hae being gaelic) 7. De Teine Analach (Also Gaelic) 8. FULL BEANS/Are You Quite Mad?

  18. the skin is easy, but speaking as a modeller, crowbarring a ford fiesta onto a PEI or something of the like while retaining the overall proportions would be a bit like shoe horning a dress onto a mountain bike. it's just not going to work and if you were to get it on there, you'd end up with a cross dressing monster truck. and down south they'd hang you for that

  21. a mesh is a mesh. the only reason it was "hard" was that nobody knew what the hell we were doing, and couldn't import anything into blender, so we couldn't get a UV map exported for reference and worked entirely off of box5's maps. which were obscure at best and "Oh god what the hell" at worst
  22. Object data can skew things, in this case it looked like it was rotation, figured i'd give the standard "Beware the OBJ data" lecture while i was at it
