    trust me, start with blender. sketchup is abhorrent in every possible way. the vert handling is odd, camera is as intuitive as a glove is intuitive to a quadropolegic, and because it can't do merged verts, it'll triple or quadroople your vert count in everything you do. not to mention that UV mapping is neigh on impossible [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__18tA6Hrts&feature=channel&list=UL

    Cry engine, modding wise is the best otimisation i've ever seen, since they crowbared Crysis 2 onto a console, while being better then the PC trail by fire Crysis. not to mention it does LOD, armatures, particles blah de blah de blah, so not only does it look miles better, using some clever shortcuts and a bit of work, i'd bet you dollars to doughnuts it'd outperform OGRE plus pryrotechnic spark emitters so we can make randy's FABULOUS sparkly digger

    Yeah, i ripped that out of maximum destruction last year, crazy threw it ingame for me, guess it got around. i was going to resculpt it and mend a few things. hopefully make it looking as well as a newer model, mend the map such on and so forth.

    learning to use vector tools is the best thing you can possibly do. look up a few tutorials for photoshop/PDN, it'll do wonders
