  1. Now that trucks have finally entered the 21st century theres a ton of cool stuff they can do. Take a quick look at the racepak website at the different types of sensors. If they use half of those I bet they will end up with a killer truck. Theres a lot to get from what you can see and what the driver feels but if you use the sensors you can learn way more than you ever thought possible. If they are using a Data Logger as I would hope they are( otherwise the dash is really just for looks really) it will be a game changer. Another (IMO better) company would be MoTec. They have a crap ton of stuff that would be useful not only for performance but for learning about impacts the drivers suffer (Crash data recorder). Also since Motec makes keypads the end of the notorious 80's looking switch panel could also come to and end(I wouldn't bet on this). I really hope data loggers and other useful stuff continue to make their way on to these trucks, its about time the world of monster trucks caught up with everyone else.
  2. Some of you may have seen my project truck I posted earlier in this thread. Well from that point forward I've been quietly working away at better version. I wanted it to be similar on the exterior but completely different from there forward. ( written as if this were a real truck for like a magazine or something)I went about building my dream of how a Monster Truck may look today if it were still a racing (priority) series. I went with this as thought for the interior of the truck. Most race cars dashes today is completely carbon fiber and include digital dashes. Gone are days of ugly round gauges! Welcome to the Motec world of things! Buttons and ignition switches are now also found on a carbon based form for organization with labels similar to that of a Nascar Cup Car. Switches have covers to keep them from being in inadvertently switched off. In the cradle of the truck a transponder is mounted in a similar fashion to any modern race car. This makes timing and calling races a sinch with each truck carrying a transponder. Long gone are the judgmental calls that troubled Monster Jam. Gear switching has never been so easy with the new sequential gear shiftier, similar to that of the ones found in rallycross cars. No longer do teams get motors from Feld; Today's Chevrolet motors are finely tuned by the experts of Hendrick Motorsports and output close to 2000hp. For driver safety the implementation of a Hendrick Carbon Fiber seat as taken over. The days of aluminum seats are gone. These seats include more leg protection to keep the drivers legs under control in the event of a crash. ( I modeled this, so lets no point out how awful it is, for someone who had never modeled anything I think it turned out decent) In a similar fashion to IMSA trucks carry the truck name, number, and class on the door lexan for qualifying purposes when bodys are removed. Sponsors are plentiful and in cases of inclement weather engine bay covers have become a useful tool for sponsors and functional part for crews who no longer have to cover engines with awful blue tarps. Chassis numbers are also required somewhere on the truck to be easily recognized by the governing body and fans alike. The 2015 Chevy body is made by Aerodine composites of complete carbon fiber to save weight, wrapped with a mixture of 3M vinyl that includes matte and chrome parts to give the truck a unique look. Contingency sponsors are still a major part of the sport with each truck carrying a varying amount. ( I made the cleanest sponsor plate with ONLY 2015 Monster Jam sponsors...... So you have no excuses for piss poor sponsor plates anymore) Back to the non write up. Truck has edited physics, brakes, suspension etc so it wont be race legal. Because of this I have made this truck its own individual pack which I plan to update over time as I change and learn new things. I plan to have the first version out by new years day, and if all the original content makers agree maybe even a blend file so that people can pick apart parts they want or need, but mainly so they can learn from an already assembled truck. EDIT: Just saw Ryan Andersons post about using a similar digital dash..... guess my truck's interior isn't as unrealistic as I thought'd it be LOL.
  3. Files from Nick's Chassis pack dont need to be imported. They are blend files and can be opened by blender. Basically File...... Open...... Find your directory in which they are and then find the blend you want to open. Or find the directory and click on the blend file to open blender with it. Now if you want to import and allready exported chassis..... Say HooliganChass.mesh you need to first convert this to an mesh.xml file In your program files, Rigs of Rods 37.xxx there is a ogre xml converter, drag the file over top of this and let it run. It will produce a .xml file. This then allows you to import it via the orge xml importer.
  4. If you think that trucks body is yellow you may want to contact your eye doctor and schedule an immediate appointment.
  5. Its time we had this talk.............. Sorry, Santa isn't real. Merry Hanukkah * I am not responsible for negative thoughts or happenings to your parents because of the above information about the longstanding felon Santa who reportedly breaks and enters millions of peoples houses in less than 24 hours.
  6. Thank you! Was just used to how it did it in 249 and what I was getting was a absolute mess. Went ahead and did as you suggested and it seems to have gone fairly well.
  7. This is what happens when I use that. Am I doing something wrong? blender by tinahopkins@sbcglobal.net, on Flickr After hitting export this is what it gives me. blender2 by tinahopkins@sbcglobal.net, on Flickr
  8. Is there any way to export mesh's from newer versions of blender? Nothing Ive found has worked at all.
  9. I understand they wanted to go away from the yellow numbers but literally any of the above options are better, and they also dont have yellow numbers(minus the roof on the last one)....
  10. Yeah this thread morphed to a "shared" topic a long while back. Split up neither topic would be 10 pages long, together they still are hardly 20 pages long lol edit: page 8 in 2012 was the first post with an iracing scheme.

  12. You know as bad as the 2004 f-150 body usage was....... I guess it wasnt all that bad compared to what we have now.......
  13. Captains Curse and Zombie apparently Netflix'd and chilled.....
  14. People do realize most kids today only know drivers by the names on the suits right? Your Grave Digger, hes Monster Energy, guy over there is Max D, and shes Scooby Doo. That all I hear at pit party's regardless of whos driving. Kids just dont associate with it being Dennis, Adam, Tom, Damon, Coty, or Nicole(just some random names) they just see the trucks.
  15. Literally one of the worst official Photoshops ive ever seen. we wont even talk about the tail......
  16. Youtube killed Monster Jam on tv for me. Theres no excuse for the once 6 month turnaround. And even today with the 1-2 week turnaround its ridiculous in the world we live in today. The 2010 live Monster Jam event at Atlanta is how the fs1 series should be broadcast.... period.
  17. I went back deleted all the old files, re downloaded, and started using the 249 version of the transmission in blender 249. It replaced the textures no issue with the "preview". Appended and it worked. However in 263 I still couldn't get the "preview" to show up, so for some reason I guess even though the textures are replaced its not really replacing them.
  18. I downloaded them, but the blends in my blend folder, textures in my texture folder. I opened the blend, it appears un textured. I replaced the textures with the files that are now located in my textures folder. The transmission looks fine and textured, I save and close the blend. I reopen and all the textures are still present. So I save this file as (ex 2014_transmissiontest.blend) and close again. I now open the new file, its still textured, I then try to append the identical file and this is what happens. Ive tried renaming the "plane.00" to different names with no avail there either. The thing that bugs me is when I replace the texture, the little preview never actually shows the texture like it normally would (which is why I have that open to show), Im thinking thats probably the root of the issue.
