However the judges really did suck ass this year from what i've noticed after watching a bunch of the runs. Dantesinferno52 Posted March 30, 2015 Share Posted March 30, 2015 In my opinion Overkill did not have the momentum that Ryan had and for once the guy actually didn't have a disappointing run. Yes Ryan's had some slow points but Overkill's over all run was just slow to me and it didn't feel like a championship run but Ryan's did and the last hit Evo had shouldn't have counted because he was stopped for a good minute before he went off again. If Tom or Adam had a complete run they would be the ones who could've stole it but they didn't so whatever. All year these judges were simply biased and it all came down to the final straw and I hope Feld does away with it because it is too flawed and if they have to escort the judges out of the stadium of fear of angry fans then you know something is desperately wrong. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ARF Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 The 1-10 system is very limiting, no judge in there right mind would give more than an 8.5 or 9, unless it was the very last truck. Instead a 1-50 scale should be used with a tenth of a point being the smallest increment. With that system we would see higher scores and less ties in the 24-26 score range. I completely agree with this. There is absolutely no reason to limit the scoring the way they do. Although, I do think I tenth of a point is a bit extensive. I think 1-100, with 1/2 point increments would do the trick, but anyway of giving the judges more "space" sounds good to me. Also, increasing the amount of judges would definitely help to more accurately decide the winner. Mathematically, the more people's opinion you have (as long as they know something about what they're talking about) the better chance you have of getting making right decision. I would have 9 judges, throw out the 2 highest and the 2 lowest scores and get a total score out of 500. So if a truck gets; 31,29,35,30,30,33 the scores would average out to 31.3. Like I said I thought all the runs were pretty crap either way.... Neither of the 3 suggested win runs (Mikey, Ryan, or Adam) had a great run backed with a huge wow moment. Compare what many would consider great championship runs in the past to this years front runners.... Paukens run in WFXI was a fantastic run backed with a HUGE wow moment. Avenger in WFXII had a fantastic run backed up with lots of momentum and huge air. WFXII Cam did a forward flip thing and then backed it up with a backflip (backflips were still realitvily new at this point) all in regulation and then put in a phenomenal bonus with huge air. XIV Pablo lost because he didnt fill the time.... He put in a great run but didnt fill the time, Tom put in a run with an equally similar run but went longer time wise, Tom won(shoudl note Tom had great air and a pretty good save which were wow moments). Fact is none of the top 3 runs had that fantastic run with a wow moment. Adam had a fantastic run.... but he didn't fill the clock (see Pablo WFXIV).... he fills the clock with or without a wow moment he IMO would have won. Ryans run was ok, defiantly fell short of adams momentum and air.... He lands two backflips BUT one happens in bonus time.... Overall a pretty tame run that lacked any wow factor that we've come to expect from Ryan Anderson. It should be noted Ryan Filled the clock. Overkill had another run similar to ryan, HOWEVER, Overkill landed two backflips in regulation, and filled the clock with the last move being that HUGE air launch. Is that a wow moment? Thats up to you. But at the end of the day the only difference between Ryan and Mikey's runs were when the backflips were landed, and frankly I think that was the deciding difference between the two. TLDR Adam had the best run but didnt fill the clock(see pablo at WFXIV), Ryan and Mikey had ok runs with two backflips, ryan landed one in regulation and one in bonus, Mikey landed both in regulation, both filled the clock with meh runs. Regulation always counts for more so thats how Mikey won. Scores reflect what I say as well EVO - Reg. (high of 9 and low of 7.5 thrown out, so they dont count either way) 31.5 Bonus 2 SOD- Reg. (high of 8 and low of 6.5 thrown out.) 27.5 Bonus 4 Put together some sats with Danny's sheet. Light red numbers are the top 10% as per excel Below are averages, light blue is at or below average, red is above average.
