  1. Information and event date poll have been added to the first post.
  2. More information to be posted in the coming days. Event Date: December 26th, 2015 Google Doc with Driver and Event information https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16VIqf2ykhubqQd_fryHW00aFrS21Hi42vRrlP__qucw/edit?usp=sharing Event Information 24 Trucks Will make the event but all are invited to join the chat during the event The officials have the final say in every situation, any arguments or poor mannered attitude towards them or fellow competitors is subject to removal from the event with possible follow up by Sim-Monsters staff The event will either be recorded or streamed depending on whether or not we can find someone willing to do one of them while not competing in the event Event Officials RKM (not competing) Wambo Mr. Beardman (Chadwick Deerfoot) CIDRA (Damian Bowers) (backup official) Racing Qualifying will be held the week leading up to the event You back out of the shed to turn around, not back the entire way to the finish. The only real penalty for qualifying is not crossing the blue line in the shed with your rear tires, failure to so will result in a 5 second penalty. Not really going to count or look for one tires because odds are you'll be penalizing yourself but you if blatantly miss a ramp for an advantage you will be penalized. The trees are set to collide so again no extra penalty for hitting them. If you roll coming to the finish your time will still count IF you make it to the finish line otherwise it will be labeled as Did Not Finish (DNF) in the actual racing bracket depending on the severity of the rollover you will be done for the entirety of racing whether you win or not. Extra information You get 2 timed passes in each lane, 1 practice pass that can be timed if you so choose and the option to redo 1 of your official passes if you did not like the time or feel you can do better however if you choose this you will NOT get to pick between 2 times, you will get the redone time and you are stuck with it. In total you get 3 passes with a maximum of 4 with the redo option. Your AVERAGE time is what will be used for the seeding order, this rewards consistency but faster times will help but you are no longer 100% reliant on just that. The track grip is snow so you will slide around The course is rather tricky and any extreme crashes will put you out for the remainder of racing You will have 2 minutes to join the server, if you have an issue or need your race dropped to the bottom of the bracket please inform an official. Failure to do so will result in your race being forfeited and you will be done for the remainder of the racing bracket Freestyle 2:00 Freestyle clock (30 second grave period, No bonus time) 50 Will be highest possible freestyle score Realistic-Unrealistic hybrid style You will be permitted a maximum of 4 backflips but keep in mind they can ruin an excellent run if timed or executed poorly (all styles will be permitted) You may not do any sort of barrel rolls or similar moves If you crash hard the run will be paused and a vote will be conducted by the in-game officials to determine whether it is done or allowed to resume ALL CALLS ARE FINAL Signups (OPEN) Truck Name: Real Name: AIM: Truck Download (must be 100% working):

  4. I've honestly thought about trying to make a stock Bearfoot like truck before, maybe I'll have to look into it a bit more but the only downside is having to make sure the file name is the same as the more detailed trucks so you can see it online. I think you can get away with a 1mb upload speed for hosting as long as you don't try to put in more than 4-5 people and don't really do much else while hosting but obviously the faster upload the better. I've tried hosting with my 0.5mb upload with a few people and it seemed okay for the most part but I'd never use it for a major event. I know I and some others started doing it that way after having so many trucks the game would no longer read all of them correctly from the zipped format. Kozak's posted pictures of it in a few help threads recently the way he has it set up and it's essentially the same way everyone does it I believe. The best thing we could discover would be a way to have the game read from the users joined and load a very simplistic stock MTM2 style truck but I don't think that can be done without modifying the code of the game itself. That is true, sometimes it can be a lot of work to come up with a good layout for a custom track and something I've noticed lately and haven't really said much about except to a select few people are how detailed the tracks are and I don't mean the actual track but the arena/stadium. Does it look pretty? Of course but there comes a point where all that detail takes away from the track being enjoyable and I can't speak for anyone but myself on this but I'll take a fun challenging course with a simplistic/basic arena/stadium over a very high detailed arena/stadium model with a basic track any day. Sure it looks pretty but does it function? Not always. Custom track wise there are a TON of great MTM2 custom tracks that could be remade in RoR that I'm sure would do excellent. I think live streaming has sort of lost it's flair, it used to only be for major and special events but now everyone and their grandmother streams an event and for a lot of those it takes away from the events themselves because of the problems that it brings. One solution I've used similar to what Kozak mentions here is commenting out the chassis or entire truck if you're one of those lazy people that doesn't separate the two meshes (you know who you are ) then you just wind up seeing the tires and a few parts but you can still see the other truck in some form. Thankfully there's been a change from everyone making every texture 2048x2048 and it's made a lot of problems of the past not nearly as common which also helps with FPS. The commonly used zip would be good but it'd likely have to be updated weekly which isn't a huge downside but it is something to think about. I'm not sure if you were around during season 2 a lot but that almost didn't get finished several times. I don't even remember how many times we had to have someone make a track the day of the event because there wasn't one and that happened several times during season 1 as well. It was fun, yes but there was a lot of things that no one but the staff members at the time dealt with. One of the reasons the first Fall Madness was run so early in the year then was to regain interest in the league because if I recall correctly at that time there were no other leagues going on and everyone was doubting whether or not the season would even get finished. I also remember taking over doing points because they rarely got updated after that. If it were to happen you'd need at least 3 teams of people to run it. The main team, a backup and then a backup for the backup just to make sure you can have a full event/season completed with as little problems as possible by having everyone prepared well in advance.
  5. Wait, are we.... are we actually having a peaceful informative discussion? What website am I on? I think Kozak covered a lot of it. One thing I want to point out with the re-zipping the pack and whatnot, you don't actually need to do that as I and several others just have an unzipped folder in our vehicles folder and most zips you download will read from that folder if they're placed in the packs folder. I've missed the MTM2 style events as they were always fun and amusing, even the chats were but if you're ever in one of the chats in an event as of late it's like no one wants to be there which takes the fun out of it entirely. Another thing that seems to turn people away I feel is that in a way some people expect new members to just immediately know everything and how to do something and there usually isn't a lot of help without some form of ridiculing whether it be present on the site or hidden away elsewhere. Blender is really only as complicated as anyone trying to learn makes it but sadly a lot of people aren't capable of learning such a program on their own so perhaps someone could make a really really basic tutorial of how to use it? I do feel like we're lacking custom tracks lately though, almost everyone builds replica tracks anymore and while it's nice I'd love to see some completely crazy track designs. The number one reason the multi room events hasn't taken off is the internet requirement to host a server and also the fact that the more trucks you have loaded in your game the more FPS you lose and some of us struggle to keep a 20fps average albeit I'm sure that's the minority group. I'd love to see a return of PPRL and I'd even offer to help with it even though my computer and internet are about as useful as a potato in a toaster sometimes. I've thought about running a league before but my computer situation is really holding me back from being able to do so. I quite enjoyed when I ran the first Fall Madness and I can only speak for myself but to date that has been the most fun I've had running and being in an RoR event.
  6. It's most likely RoR itself as it's rather poorly optimized in comparison to other games. If I'm lucky I average around 20fps with everything low @ 640x480. You could also look and see how much resources other programs are using that you may have running in the background that may not have made a difference in the past but they might now.
  7. DAAAVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Referring to yourself as one of these lurkers? I think a big bracket PPRL league/special event format could work wonders, when I did the first Fall Madness that was pretty much what I based it on. Unreal just go do your thing could work but would need some type of rules as most of the trucks promote a realistic style of driving but you can do some pretty unrealistic things if you want. The biggest problem that happens with such a format for an event or league is everyone wants to run their league on the weekend and while most people play nice there are some that simply refuse to work with changing a date or postponing something for a special event. I agree with the crab walk part but honestly if you know what you're doing you don't even need that to right a truck again. It's definitely something that could be done with some limitations applied to what would fly and what would be unable to continue. As much as switching to a new version would be great I really see zero point unless it's going to be to 4.0+ otherwise it just isn't worth it if you want my opinion. Good to see I'm not the only one noticing the lack of leagues currently as well, I know there are a few I think but nothing on a major major scale. The problem with special events is you need people running them that know what they're doing and don't change half the track 5 minutes before the event starts. Mistakes happen and problems arise that you can't always be prepared for but a lot of the problems with a previous special event could have largely been avoided entirely. I do want to see more special events though, that's for sure. A community pack could be a good idea but there are times it simply isn't worth it and if you don't want my word just message Kozak about some of the past packs. I'm still on promoting the stand alone trucks/packs though as not everyone can download a 2gb+ mega pack nor may they want to.
  8. Not really much you can do for that computer sadly. I'd save money and get something better with at least a quad core and dedicated graphics.
  9. You know you did a wrong when you have Demko telling you to read a book.
  10. Forgive me for doing the obvious but it's probably because they're using .38 or above or don't know what stand alone means? I'd be more inclined to believe it has to do with using .38 or above personally though. Also I've slightly played with the grip settings for the rear and set it to 1.75 which seems to be a sweet spot for right now for being able to slide around but can still hike up and roll along with being fairly good at keeping the 2nd gear donuts controlled with some throttle rhythm in all trucks I've tested it on so far.
  11. I don't remember Oggy from MTM2 at all, I believe Harlow was around for a little awhile at some point over there. I don't really feel like getting into it too much but if Oggy and a few others were still active/not banned there would be a lot more flame wars and useless arguments on here that go nowhere. As far as improving or upgrading the game I honestly think we're better off sticking to what we know works or getting a group together to build our own game and we all see how well those group projects worked out in the past so that almost instantly kills that idea. Losing interest like Kozak, if it weren't for SMRA I wouldn't even check the site the 3 times a month I currently do. It seems that at certain points of the year there is just nothing going on that has a major following because they all seem to be around at the same time when pretty much leaves a massive dead zone in other times of the year. I'm all for more leagues and special events but a lot of people are hesitant to join a league run by someone with little or no experience doing so as it's led to more failures than I can count in the past.

No, I'm pretty sure that's mine considering you at least get decent FPS in RoR/CSGO whereas if I'm lucky I average about 15. #toasterlife
  13. If you don't want cable your only other real options are DSL or Fios but you do know you can order cable internet minus tv/phone right? Cable/Fios is the best you're going to get unless you work for NASA/Google. I had Comcast in the past and never had any issues other than having to reboot the modem every 2 weeks or my connection would drop randomly throughout the day. Also asking other people to search for ISP's for you that live thousands of mile away isn't really going to do you any good as there are different options/availabilities per location around the country so while we can help it will ultimately come down to the best you can get for your current location. Whatever you do stay the hell away from satellite, trust me.
  14. /gravedigger_begin Anyone up for this again? Deleted a few of the team owners that weren't really active at all last time, so that leaves 3 open but I can add more if more want to join. http://games.espn.go.com/fhl/leagueoffice?leagueId=32217&seasonId=2016 /gravedigger_end
  15. Obviously new thing will take some time to get used to but I too have noticed it definitely is much more memory friendly than Teamspeak.
  16. Just rename the directory to Rigs of Rods 38 or something, shouldn't want to replace the other one that way.
  17. Now now, we all know my crashes in Avenger were far more spectacular. They're still fun to mess around on especially if you want to hit things awkward and fast.

Laptop but I have a desktop with a similar issue though I don't think that one is worth fixing. That's very Canadian of you but I might be able to grab one this weekend hopefully.
  19. After blatantly ignoring obvious signs of hard drive failure it's finally decided to become the toaster it had always dreamed of. Earlier this morning the little toaster had been freed from it's plastic cell and has shown no interest in returning to it's previous living environment.
  20. Make sure you have the model selected and then enter edit mode (tab) and press A to select all, please not however if it's not mapped at all you will not have anything show up on the right window until you've completed the other steps. That screen shot is mostly to show an example of what it should look like when you're finished.
  21. I did no such things.... but you laughed at it so you can't blame me entirely.
  22. Contrary to popular belief, a lot of new people actually do learn but unfortunately not all of them do. Also I'm pretty sure there is a rule that clearly states in the rules to not upload something that will conflict with an existing truck.
